  • ⚡ 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 & 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗱𝘀 What is HEMS and why is it important? HEMS is foremost a solution for homeowners to improve the energy efficiency and make cost savings. But its impact goes even deeper. 🎢 HEMS support the integration of renewable energy. By allowing homeowners to benefit from fluctuating electricity prices. Energy management systems (EMS) are not just for homes. They work in office buildings and other large facilities, offering the same benefits. 🔌 EMS can also optimize electric vehicle charging for commercial fleets of trucks and buses. They balance energy loads, regulate charging rates, and schedule sessions efficiently. Charge point operators also benefit. EMS helps them improve charging times, enhance customer experiences, and reduce costs. 🤝 That’s why we want to contribute by investing in promising businesses in the HEMS space. ✅ Germany's largest #BESS project under construction ✅ Germany's biggest-financed #BESS project We're finishing the year strong! 💪 ⚡A couple of weeks ago, we announced a partnership to optimize ECO STOR GmbH's ECO POWER ONE, Germany's largest #BESS project under construction. 💥 Today we're happy to tell you about our involvement in the biggest-financed battery storage project in Germany! 🔋137.5 MW / 306 MWh 📍 Alfeld, Lower Saxony enspired will take the lead in optimizing Danish investor Obton A/S's high-voltage project in Alfeld across all revenue streams in collaboration with Entelios AG, which will provide ancillary services. For enspired and Entelios, Alfeld marks the third joint storage project with Obton after Tangermünde and Karstädt. Together, the three projects provide a combined storage capacity of 392 MWh, equivalent to almost a third of the currently installed capacity of large-scale BESS in Germany 🚀 ▶️ Watch the video for Obton senior investment manager Martin Christensen's take on the Alfeld project, which has capacity sufficient to power one million households for one hour. #flexibilitytrading #batteryoptimization #gridstability #ancillaryservices

  • ⚡ 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 In Germany, the importance of HEMS will be supported by the introduction of smart meters. While smart meters are common across much of Europe, Germany has fallen behind. By 2022, only 1% of German households had a smart meter. 🇪🇺 In contrast, Denmark, Italy, Spain, and Sweden had over 99% adoption. Despite this, Germany leads in HEMS adoption overall. To address the gap, the German government plans a major smart meter roll-out. 🏠 Starting in 2025, the target is to cover 95% of households and small businesses consuming up to 100,000 kWh by 2030. This widespread adoption will be a game-changer for HEMS. Smart meters record real-time energy use, enabling flexible tariffs and providing the data HEMS needs to optimize energy use. 🤝 That’s why we want to contribute by investing in promising businesses in the HEMS space. • 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘄𝗲'𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝘇𝗲𝗿𝗼 In April of this year, we announced our investment in Cozero with Kvanted and NewAlpha Asset Management. In this post, we'd like to illustrate the investment thesis that led to the deal. 🌿 “Actionable sustainability requires more than just compliance. It requires a balanced approach that weighs environmental obligations and financial implications. Organizations need to prioritize solutions that provide clear insight, enabling them to make decisions that are both environmentally responsible and financially prudent," says Melanie Beyersdorf, who led the investment from our side. 📈𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱 Transparency in their own CO2 management and the presentation of relevant data are becoming increasingly important control parameters for companies. In addition, companies must be able to derive measures directly from the data obtained. ⚠️𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺 Collecting and analysing CO2 activity data from different sources and formats is complex and time-consuming. 💡𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Cozero's CO2 management tools streamline the measurement, reduction, and reporting of corporate and product footprints across Scope 1-3. Whether for CSRD reporting, decarbonization planning, or supplier data collection, the Cozero Climate ERP supports companies from complex sectors on their climate journey. 🌳𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝘇𝗲𝗿𝗼 Cozero is a leading provider of carbon management software for enterprises. Founded in Berlin in 2020 by Helen Tacke, Fabian Schwarzer, and Tiago Taveira, Cozero empowers enterprises to take control of their environmental footprint and decarbonization journey. Its Climate Action Platform (CAP) offers seamless tracking, reduction, and reporting capabilities for corporate and product emissions in one end-to-end SaaS solution.

  • ⚡ 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 As investors we want to 𝗵elp 𝗲nergize 𝗺odern 𝘀tartups. HEMS for short. But HEMS also has another meaning. It stands for Home Energy Management Systems. 🏠 In an increasingly uncertain energy market HEMS stand out as an important solution to give homeowners control over their energy consumption and costs. As a platform to monitor and manage energy consumption in the home, HEMS can unlock unprecedented savings for homeowners by unlocking greater flexibility. 🤝 That is why we want to help energize modern startups in the home energy management system world. Basically, HEMS in the HEMS-world. Interested? Read more in our new blog post about HEMS. It addresses questions like, how homeowners can benefit from using HEMS or how the future of HEMS will look like. ⬇️ Find the link below #HEMSxENV

Venture Capital @EnBW New Ventures I Backing Strong Founders Delivering Digital Solutions for a Sustainable and Electrified World

🌞 It's a wrap! (that's how posts usually start these days, right?) Reflecting on an incredible two days at #ForumSolarPlus this week! It was -as always- an event packed with inspiration, knowledge, and meaningful discussions. Here are some personal highlights from my two days at the bcc in Berlin: 💬 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲: I had the honour of moderating my first major panel in the Kuppelsaal (Zoe Lai I didn't know that when you asked, I was thinking of one of the smaller rooms, but 'challenge accepted')! Together with our outstanding experts Pia Alina Lange Raoul Mancke Benjamin Subei Ullrich Didszun Stefan Wippich and Dr. Harry Wirth, we tackled key questions about how to drive the expansion of photovoltaics while integrating environmental and social considerations. The challenge? Aligning these sustainability factors with economic feasibility—a crucial discussion for our 𝘎𝘳𝘶̈𝘯𝘦 𝘌𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘪𝘦𝘻𝘶𝘬𝘶𝘯𝘧𝘵. 😍𝗙𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝟭: I couldn't have done it without the support of Tina Barroso, who is not only a cornerstone of this event but also a true legend in moderation. Her expertise made this milestone even more special for me. 📖 𝗙𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: A hot topic was the current draft legislation, which proposes that even small PV systems should participate in direct marketing. While this is seen as a challenge, many also recognize the opportunity: flexibility and prosumer engagement are essential to thrive in a decentraliced energy world. 🤩 𝗙𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗜𝗜: Serving on this year's advisory board alongside some of the brightest minds in solar was a true privilege (shout out to all advisory board members Katharina David Franz-Josef Feilmeier Andreas Gast Pia Alina Lange Benedikt Dr. Ortmann Carsten Pfeiffer Karl-Heinz Remmers Thomas Seltmann Christoph Strasser —your expertise is unmatched!). A personal highlight for me was working with Karl-Heinz, a pioneer who has shaped Germany's solar landscape like no other. What an inspiration! 🌍 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: #ForumSolarPlus is where established players meet fresh innovators, sparking conversations that shape the future and make 'diversity' becoming reality. I loved meeting forward-thinking founders like Frederik Merz Claudius Jehle Oliver Schmidt Alexander Hottong Hauke Lapschies Stefan Häselbarth Many thanks to everyone who helped make this event such a success! It's forums like this that keep the momentum for a greener energy future alive. 🙌✨! Conexio-PSE Zoe Lai Vera Maria Lenz Gesche M. Isabelle Zwirtz Beate Hänska PS: - the one with the coffee and the 'vegan' 😜 beer: Great to chat and catch up Daniel Fuerstenwerth Michael Fuhs Florian Meyer Delpho Felix Krause Doreen R. Andreas Kuehl Tobias Schütt You now what: I missed the EnBW gang in the first version (next coffee is on me!): Ulrich Kassberger Tim Morath Hartwig Dieterich
