Integrating Earth system models and observations for informed action
Info
ESMO is a WCRP core project born to coordinate, advance, and facilitate all modelling, data assimilation and observational activities within WCRP, working jointly with all other WCRP projects. Our mission is to facilitate the integration and coordination of climate modeling and observational efforts, fostering collaboration among scientists, stakeholders and decision makers. Through collaborative approaches and interdisciplinary partnerships, we aim to enhance the accuracy, reliability, and accessibility of climate data and projections.

🌍✨ Join the conversation on advancing Earth System Models at #EGU25! Systematic biases in ESMs challenge the accuracy of #weather and #climate predictions, impacting critical decision-making for stakeholders. With the rise of advanced computing and #MachineLearning, there's potential to improve model precision—yet persistent errors remain. 📢 This session invites contributions to uncover and address systematic errors in ESMs. Key topics include: 🌐 Model errors across scales and components 🌐 Physics-dynamics coupling 🌐 Data assimilation and ML for error detection 🌐 Stochastic parameterization and innovative diagnostics 🔗 Read more about this and other ESMO sessions at EGU on our website: https://lnkd.in/dv95A2Eg ⏰ Deadline for submissions: 15 January 2025 #ClimatePrediction #WeatherForecasting #EarthSystemModels #DataAssimilation European Geosciences Union (EGU) World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) Ariane Frassoni Ron McTaggart-Cowan
