ETIP PV - The European Technology & Innovation Platform for Photovoltaics hat dies direkt geteilt
The annual gathering of European policy makers on research and innovation for energy took place this week in pretty (and cold 🥶 ) Budapest. During this 2024 #SETplan conference we had a lot of discussions on how R&I can contribute to European competitiveness, both on and off the stage. I had the pleasure to join a session on the Solar energy Innovation Agenda, and here is what I take away from this and two days of discussion: ⚡PV is at the heart of the electricity grid today, and we need to prioritise energy infrastructure that enables Europe to tap into the most affordable electricity source around. That means more flexibility resources, storage and better integration of sectors (e.g. solar mobility) 🛠️ Europe can be competitive on PV manufacturing, but we need tools to ensure investments can materialise and thrive in this space. Market creation for European products through NZIA is a solution to provide a pathway to competitiveness to this strategic industry 🔬 Research and innovation is at the heart of competitiveness for PV and other clean energy technologies. With short technology cycles we need a strong R&I to constantly accompany industry. The co-programmed partnership on photovoltaics steered by ETIP PV - The European Technology & Innovation Platform for Photovoltaics is a key tool to create a vibrant industrial innovation ecosystem for PV in Europe. The partnership will help focus efforts on solar PV R&I to accelerate the innovation process. 👩🏭 Skills and de-risking: two transversal topics across clean energy industries where we can find synergies! The European economy is changing, and with it, so are jobs and skills. Meanwhile, we need tools, such as de-risking, to accelerate investments in innovation and allow our industries to innovate at scale, the key factor in long term competitiveness! SolarPower Europe
