Successful Kickoff for the MaTeNa innovate! Center Steering Committee! We are thrilled to have successfully held the first MaTeNa Steering Committee meeting. The committee is composed of Alfons Botthof, Anne-Kathrin Guder, Prof. Dr. David May, and Prof. Dr. Bernd Mayer with additional support from Prof. Dr. Kurosch Rezwan, and Dr. Jan Wedemeier. Our four committee members bring extensive expertise in innovation and technology transfer, providing valuable strategic guidance. We were also pleased to welcome Dr. Dorothea Pieper as a guest at this first session. The core mission of the Steering Committee is to strategically align and prioritize projects in the field of sustainable materials and technologies within the MAPEX University of Bremen context and the mission statement of the MaTeNa innovate! 🚨New project alert🚨 Tuesday marked the official Kick-Off of #SelfReCab, a swiss-german cooperation aiming to make flying more sustainable! 🛫 Together with BIONTEC - Bionic Composite Technologies AG Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz FHNW Faserinstitut Bremen MultiMaterial-Welding AG & WEGENER International GmbH we will develop an inherently fire, smoke & toxicity compliant, selfreinforced material for aircraft interieurs. Its increased strength, stiffness and dent resistance means products last longer, while its thermoplastic mono-material nature makes it easy to repair and recycle. +++ Progress Update from the LeiWaCo Project +++ As the coordination hub for the #LeiWaCo #project, we as Composite Technology Center / CTC GmbH (An Airbus Company) is excited to share the latest developments from our recent project meeting. While our project coordinator, Dr. Tim Frerich, couldn’t attend, we were in great hands with Dr. Tobias Reincke and Dr. Holger Büttemeyer representing #CTC and driving the discussions forward. The LeiWaCo project, funded by the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz / German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (#BMWK) and supervised by the Projektträger Jülich (PtJ), is focused on the #development of #liquid #hydrogen #tanks made from #thermoplastic #composites. These innovative tanks have the potential to transform the #aircraft, #train, #truck and #shipbuilding #industries by providing safer, lighter, and more efficient #hydrogen #storage solutions for energy-efficient applications. Today the 16th International Conference on Flow Processes comes to an end. Hosted by Rehan Umer, FRAeS from Khalifa University, UAE it was a wonderful event with fantastic talks. It has always been my favorite conference series and it was a great honor for me to give a keynote on my resin permeability-related research, a topic i have been working on since day 1 of my career. I am also happy that with Patrick Nowakowski I was accompanied by a PhD from my new affiliation Faserinstitut Bremen. His talk on hydrogen permeation is one of many first steps towards transferring all the FPCM communities expertise on resin permeability to this exiting new field. I am curious to see how the community will further advance and look very much forward to the next FPCMs. Thanks a lot to the local organization committee. This was great!
We are pleased the announce successful results from the ZIM FuE research project Steritex. Together with our project partners Institut für Polymer- und Produktionstechnologien gGmbH, Auriko GmbH and Klimax Lüftungs- und Klimaanlagen GmbH & Co. KG, an antibacterial filter was developed. At FIBRE, project manager Boris Marx developed a bicomponent fibre with a functionalized surface. The filter can significantly reduce bacteria in the air. Thanks to the BMWK for funding the project.

Thank you for an excellent 2024 on LinkedIn 🙌 The year 2024 is gradually drawing to a close. Before the Christmas break starts soon, we would like to share a few moments from this year with you. With numerous projects, large and small events, workshops, delegation trips and so much more, it was all about one thing above all: the togetherness of this great #ECOMAT community. To name everything would exceed the scope, but we have enjoyed a variety of highlights - from the celebration of the 5th anniversary of ECOMAT, the opening of our CRYOLAB, our joint MoU with the region of #Kobe to a successful Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe - and so much more! We had great fun sharing the personal, technical and, above all, diverse insights into the vast world of topics that we and our partners offer in the ECOMAT cosmos. Yesterday, we could present ourselves at the annual network meeting of Niedersachsen Aviation with our own booth and with a pitch by our director David May. It was a great event dedicated to „Repair“ and we had great discussions on our research, e.g on thermoplastic patch repair and sandwich repair. Thanks to Markus Geiger , Dr. Mohamed Adli Dimassi and Dr. Patrick Schiebel for representing us and thanks to the organizers for this great event. We also thank the Airbus European Repair Center for hosting!
