🌟 Charity Gala ‘Jahresköste’ in Rostock Raises Over €79,000 for Petrikirche Restoration 🌟 On October 18, 2024, the 'Rostocker Kaufleute' hosted their annual Charity Gala at the Radisson Hotel in Rostock, raising an impressive €79,315.77. The event, attended by local entrepreneurs and community leaders, marked a significant milestone in the restoration of the iconic Petrikirche, which was destroyed during World War II. Volker Redersborg, the evening’s Öllermann (host) and CFO of F. Laeisz, announced that the church’s bell tower, which has been silent for decades, would soon ring again. With a major donation of €45,000, Volker Redersborg emphasized that this contribution would help complete the restoration of St. Peter’s Church, a landmark and symbol of peace for Rostock. At 117 meters tall, it is the tallest church in the Hanseatic city. On September 17-18, 2024, the Maritime Cluster Northern Germany hosted the Basic Maritime Economy Training in Rostock, aimed at newcomers and those interested in the maritime sector. We had two of our colleagues from Reederei F. Laeisz speaking at the event: Volker Redersborg, who shared his expertise on ship management and chartering, and Udo Wolf, who provided valuable insights on Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental Protection (QHSE). Participants experienced a wide-ranging agenda covering shipbuilding, offshore wind, ports, cybersecurity, and more, led by 22 industry experts who enriched the event with practical insights, discussions, and tours. On March 23, 2024, F. Laeisz celebrated its 200th anniversary at the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg. We took our guests on a journey through generations of history, showcasing our past, present, and future. The gala evening, featured performances including an adaptation of Beethoven's "Ode to joy" (1824), remarks by Nikolaus W. Schües and former Federal President Joachim Gauck, Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" performed by Sebastian Knauer, and Johann Strauss II's Emperor Waltz performed by the National Youth Ballet, followed by a speech from Nikolaus H. Schües. Additionally, the world premiere of Sean Shepherd's "Kinderlicht," performed by Mira Wang, Matthias Kirschnereit, and Jan Vogler, took place. Prof. Antje Boetius shared insights about future expeditions of Polarstern, and the evening concluded with the premiere screening of Nicolas Stampe's movie satire "The Story of N" starring Martin Stopford. An ongoing highlight of the celebrations is an exhibition revealing insights into our company's history, fleet, and plans. The exhibition will run at the International Maritime Museum Hamburg from March 22 to September 15, 2024. We're also excited to announce the release of the book "200 years of F. Laeisz: The history of a German shipping company and its path into the future" by Matthias Gretzschel, published by Koehler Verlag.
