Countdown zur Bundestagswahl ⏱️ Bis die Wahllokale schließen ticken noch circa 150.000 Sekunden von der Uhr. Das ist eine kläglich kleine Zahl, verglichen mit der Anzahl an Menschen weltweit, die keinen Zugang zu einer sicheren Toilette haben. Das sind 3,5 Milliarden Menschen, oder circa 42 % der Weltbevölkerung. Wir fragen uns, wie diese Menschen am Sonntag abstimmen würden, wenn Sie an der Bundestagswahl teilnehmen könnten. Der Stapel ihrer 3,5 Milliarden Wahlzetteln wäre jedenfalls 350 km Meter hoch. Die Parteien zur Bundestagswahl haben sich sehr unterschiedlich zur globalen Zusammenarbeit und Solidarität positioniert. Dazu hat unser Dachverband VENRO hier eine Analyse veröffentlicht: ➡️ https://lnkd.in/ekynxPzP Wir appellieren an die Parteien und die zukünftige Regierung das Ziel 0,7 % des BIP für internationale Zusammenarbeit aufzuwenden, im neuen Koalitionsvertrag festzuschreiben. Dies ist ein sinnvolles Investment mit einem hohen Return on Investment, für die Menschen in der Welt, unsere Wirtschaft und unsere Sicherheit. Die Weltordnung verschiebt sich dramatisch und wir sind als Export-orientiertes Land auf verlässliche internationale Partnerschaften und einen guten Ruf in der Welt angewiesen. Der Wassersektor ist ein Feld, in dem Deutschland seit langer Zeit seinen guten Ruf fördert und beachtliche Erfolge erzielt hat. Deutschland hat eine starke Wasserwirtschaft, starke kommunale Betreiber und eine starke Zivilgesellschaft, die sich international engagieren. Alleine die Mitglieder unseres Netzwerk führen WASH Projekte mit einem Volumen von 100 Millionen EUR in über 60 Ländern durch. Wasser bedeutet Leben, Sanitärversorgung bedeutet Würde und Hygiene bedeutet Gesundheit. Dafür arbeiten wir! #WASHforALL #BTW2025 #Bundestagwahl action medeor e.V. Auch in diesem Jahr führen wir in enger Zusammenarbeit mit Technisches Hilfswerk -THW den sehr praktisch ausgerichteten ‘Latrine Construction in Emergencies’ Kurs durch. 💧 Thirsty? Unfortunately yes! 💧 In the past days, we visited two more national party conventions: of the Green Party (BÜNDNIS 90/DIE GRÜNEN) and the CDU Deutschlands. With the current global developments including the withdrawal of the Trump administration from global responsibility and solidarity, it is more important than ever that Germany remains a committed partner for development cooperation and humanitarian aid worldwide. We also advocated for the importance of life-saving, dignity-providing services, like #WASH, with positive benefits for so many other SDGs. At the convention of the Green Party, we were happy to note that the right to water is anchored in their election programme and that they are reaffirming their commitment to allocating 0.7% of Germany GDP for development assistance (ODA).  We are thankful for a fruitful exchange with MP Ulle Schauws. At the convention of the CDU, we handed out branded water bottles with key WASH facts to delegates. This was well received, particularly if we mentioned the human rights – which are anchored in their election programme as key Christian values – although we would love to see a more explicit focus on international cooperation and solidarity. Menschen Anschluss an eine Wasserversorgung erhalten. Im Bereich der Sanitärversorgung wurden weltweit sogar 2,5 Mrd. Zugänge geschaffen. Die Aufgabe ist klar: Zugang für Alle (#SGD6) Die Aufgabe ist machbar: Wenn wir alle an einem Strang ziehen und ausreichender politische Wille entsteht, die internationalen Zusammenarbeit im Bereich #WASH zu stärken - hier in Deutschland, in unseren Partnerländern und auf Ebene der Vereinten Nationen. Today, we had the privilege of attending a national party convention for the first time. In these challenging yet crucial times for international cooperation, it was an invaluable opportunity to advocate for stronger global partnerships and solidarity. We had the pleasure of reconnecting with familiar faces like our Federal Minister for Development Svenja Schulze, Dr. Bärbel Kofler (Parliamentary State Secretary at BMZ), Jochen Flasbarth (State Secretary at BMZ) and other important champions of international cooperation including Sanae Abdi, Derya Türk-Nachbaur and Thorsten Schäfer-Gümbel. We were pleased to hear the Social Democrats reaffirm their commitment to allocating 0.7% of Germany's GDP for Official Development Assistance (ODA), which is pretty much in line with our policy recommendations for our upcoming national elections: ➡️https://lnkd.in/eShZzZ63 Looking forward to the upcoming party conventions of the Christian Democratic Party and the Greens. 💧 EVENT RECOMMENDATION 💧 We highly recommend the roll out event of the WASH Insecurity Analysis to you. This is truely a great milestone for the sector. Hopefully, the analysis will one day be as influential as the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) in informing WASH advocacy and policy and thereby guiding investment.
