Have you ever considered moving to Europe post-Brexit? This year, the IMechE Germany has had several Young Members relocating from the UK to Germany. As a result, we have organised the “Moving and working abroad: Engineering in Germany” webinar to share their experiences. We hope that this can aid Students, Young Members and anyone curious to understand more about moving and working abroad, to understand more about what can (initially) seem like an overwhelming life change!

Are you going Hamburg in September for the WindEnergy Hamburg meeting? Andy Clifton is planning to be there Tuesday 24-Thursday 27 all day, and would love to meet up with others from the IMechE in Germany. If there's enough of us, maybe we could meet for an afternoon coffee or get together in the evening? Please leave a note in the comments if you'll be there! https://lnkd.in/da8z4M5

Details of the Aachen round of "Speak Out for Engineering"
📣Student competition “Speak Out for Engineering” // APPLY NOW 📣 ✅ Are you looking for an opportunity to develop your presentation skills? ✅Are you a talented public speaker looking for a new challenge? ✅Can you present for 20 minutes and answer some questions for the chance to win 300£ ? ✅Become part of our international network “Speak Out for Engineering” (SOfE) is a student competition that aims to provide an opportunity to practice your professional presentation skills. The jury evaluating the presentations is interdisciplinary. You will give a 20-minute presentation about a technical topic of your choice in front of a 3-5 members jury. The presentation will be followed by a 10-minutes Q&A session. The presentation has to be in English. The competition consists of several rounds. The first round is formed by regional heats. A preliminary round will take place in 📆 Aachen on 17 October 2024. The application period for SOfE DE 2024 will end 09 September 2024! Here's a wonderful training experience from Mariatu Davies AMIMechE who recently joined IMechE Germany before setting off on her travels
Last week marked the end of the practical section of my SAL Engineering traineeship. I spent over three months on our heavy lift Vessel, MV Regine, doing cargo deliveries between Europe and Asia. I was involved in cargo planning, operations, ship maintenance, and deck work. This was an excellent opportunity to experience how the designs and calculations I do daily in the office are carried out. The experience gave me a better insight into supercargo duties also. This experience has been both challenging and enriching, and it was made even better by the crew I worked alongside. They showed up each day, ready to work hard with positive attitudes, and help make everything we design come to life! #Heavylift #engineering
