Today's goalkeepers must excel not only in shot-stopping but also in game awareness and space management. 🧤 💡Our goalkeeper analysis is based on four key categories: 𝟏. 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗿 The most important KPI here is "bypassed opponents." The top performer in the Bundesliga last season was Manuel Riemann from VFL Bochum, with a number of 51 bypassed opponents. 𝟮. 𝗕𝗼𝘅 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 The critical KPI for this category is "caught balls in percentage." Alexander Nübel from VFB Stuttgart led this category with 14.3% caught balls. 𝟯. 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿 This category is determined by the "percentage of expected goals prevented." Péter Gulácsi from RB Leipzig was the best in this category last season, preventing 23.9% of expected goals. 𝟰. 𝗦𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗿 This category is measured by "defensive touches outside the box per game." Manuel Riemann from VFL Bochum recorded the highest value last season, with 2.8 defensive actions outside the penalty area per game.
