A happy heart is better than a full purse! You might not know this proverb, but at least for one Raisineer, it is part of what defines him. Our strength lies in the different stories, backgrounds and unique perspectives of each and every one. 🌍 That is why we want to give you a glimpse of who we are – with our #Younique interviews. Meet Smijo Puthur Joju, originally from Kerala province in southern India, he is Tech Lead for Deposit Accounting & Taxation. We talked to him about his roots and his story. What contributes most to your happiness? ☀️ My parents and siblings are very important to me. Helping others and giving back to the community also brings me a lot of joy. Caring for others is deeply rooted in my religion, and I’ve realized how important this ethos is for me, because I personally benefited from the kindness of others. Growing up, there were times when we experienced economic hardship, and I will never forget those who helped us out. Through this experience, I learned not to take anything for granted and am more than happy to help others in need. Which proverb would you like to share with us? 🌏 The Malayalam proverb I would like to share is “നിറഞ്ഞ സഞ്ചിയെക്കാൾ സന്തോഷമുള്ള ഹൃദയമാണ് നtല്ലത്“”. The proverb translates into “a happy heart is better than a full purse”. It resonates with me deeply, because it emphasizes that one should value happiness over materialism and wealth, which is deeply rooted in my own upbringing. Do you have any tips to find joy in everyday moments? 🤗 One of my personal tips to finding joy in everyday life is keeping physically active – it gives me a positive and grateful mindset. Praying and religion are also important anchors in my life; often I include loved ones and friends in my prayers. In addition to being active, I am also an avid reader, in particular of psychology books – one that I’d recommend is Atomic habits by James Clear. Thank you, Smijo! __ Stay tuned to get to know more Raisineers.

#Saving across borders more popular 👏 It is our vision to break barriers, to connect savers and banks across borders - and our growth proves us right. A new analysis by Matthias Rumpf for the ECB Blog now indicates a bigger trend that our growth might be part of: cross-border saving is on the rise in Europe. 💡 Since the beginning of 2020, the volume of household deposits deposited in other eurozone countries has increased from a total of €95bn to €151bn in August 2024. This equals an increase from 1.2% to 1.6% of all private household deposits with euro area banks. ⬆️ Examining the amount of cross-border household deposits held per country, Germany led with nearly €51.5bn at the end of Q1 2024, followed by France with €15.8bn and the Netherlands with €13.7bn. Germany, the Netherlands, and Cyprus also posted the highest growth rates: between April 2022 and April 2024, Germany recorded an increase of 44%, Cyprus 46% and Dutch cross-border household deposits even doubled. 📈 Now, let’s work together on the next billions. 🚀

Raisin is diverse. 🌍 People from more than 70 countries work at Raisin. Our strength lies in the different stories, backgrounds and unique perspectives of each and every one. That is why we want to give you a glimpse of who we are – with our #Younique format. 🤗 Meet Jemma Fairchild, Investment Manager at Raisin, learn more about her and why Essex is her favorite place. 🏴 What makes you happy? 🤗 Definitely new experiences with my friends and family. Last year, me and my sister went to Norway for the first time. We did lots of new fun things, like climbing a mountain and swimming in the fjords - that was so nice to experience together. Sports bring me a lot of joy, too. I have played netball for a long time and have met lots of my friends through that. I love the team spirit and have been to watch England play a few times. It is a great experience and celebration of women’s sport! Can you tell us about your favorite place on earth? 🗺️ The place I grew up, in the Essex countryside in the UK. It is really beautiful; rolling hills, the river, and lots of cows! It’s amazing for walking, or you can rent a boat and row along the river in the summer. In the winter, we used to sled down the hills for hours. I didn’t always love growing up there as it was quite remote and not always the most exciting place, but since I have moved away, I appreciate its peacefulness a lot more. Is there a proverb that you would like to share with us? 💡 I’m not sure if it’s a proverb as such, but I would say “nothing ventured, nothing gained”. I like the idea that if you never try you will never know. Sometimes you have to put yourself out there and take a risk to do something new.

Term deposits now make up a quarter of deposits in Germany! 🚀 In July 2022, the European Central Bank initiated a series of interest rate hikes, allowing consumers to earn (better) returns on their savings. But how did savers react? To find out, we looked at the changes in deposit composition in Germany.💡 ►Term deposits, or deposits with agreed maturity, now account for nearly a quarter of total deposit volumes in Germany, at 24.6% (€693bn). Just two years ago in July 2022, their share was only 9.8%. For comparison, the last time term deposits exceeded 20% was in 2012. 📈 ►The rise in term deposits has largely come at the expense of overnight deposits, i.e. easy-access and current accounts. After peaking at an all-time high of 69.8% in July 2022, their share has now fallen to 60.7% 📉 ►The final category, deposits redeemable at notice, i.e. savings books and similar products, also saw a significant decline, now accounting for 14.6% of total deposits. In July 2022, they still represented more than one-fifth of total deposit volumes. 👉 Over the past two years, Germans have steadily shifted money into term deposits, largely at the expense of other deposit types. This isn't surprising, as term deposits generally have offered higher interest rates. What stands out, however, is the remarkable speed of this development. ⌛

That's why we launched an extensive above the line marketing campaign in the Netherlands and Ireland – to spread the word about Raisin and our mission to empower #savers to earn more #interest on their money. 💸 From billboards across both countries, to radio spots and prime-time TV commercials, our marketing measures have reached hundreds of thousands of consumers, raising their awareness of how to maximize the return on their cash by saving with Raisin. 📈 If you haven't seen it yet, take a look at one of our commercials for Ireland.👇 Or let us know where you've spotted #Raisin. A thank you goes to Bright8, the Netherlands-based brand agency that devised this remarkable campaign for and with us. 🤝
