We recently had the pleasure of welcoming students from the South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences from the “Ecology and Sustainability Management”, “Sustainable Food Systems” and “Data Science for Agriculture” degree programs as well as from the Institute for Green Technology and Rural Development (i.green). During their visit, they gained exciting insights into our sustainability concept - from biodiversity to sustainable construction. During a tour of our factory premises, they were able to get to know our production processes and learn more about the challenges in the area of energy. Since the foundation of a small artisan bakery in 1884, the company has developed into an international market leader for fine baked goods. The KuchenMeister locations have been continuously developed over the course of the company's 140-year history in order to combine traditional baking with state-of-the-art technology. IIHK transport committee at KuchenMeister The Transport and Mobility Committee of the Arnsberg Chamber of Industry and Commerce met at KuchenMeister. KuchenMeister presented its logistics structures, focusing on the “long truck” project, which promises to increase efficiency in logistics through longer trucks. Sebastian Brügger explained the planned savings in transportation costs and the positive impact on the environmental balance. The right raisin is crucial! We source our raisins from carefully selected growing areas where the seedless grapes are dried under optimal conditions. The grapes are air-dried for 8-10 days, collected and then cleaned. Drying usually takes place on harvested grain fields, if possible on a hill where there is a lot of wind. To ensure that only the best raisins end up in our stollen, all deliveries undergo a strict quarantine process. Only after thorough analyses, such as tests for ochratoxin and pesticides, are they allowed to be processed. Our in-house analysis guarantees complete proof of the food conformity of the raw materials. Raisins are a family affair at KuchenMeister! Between July and December, millions of finished stollen roll off our production line. But for us, raisins are more than just an ingredient for winter stollen - they are part of our family tradition and our promise of quality. Every year, Uwe Trockels and his purchasing team go on a trip to Turkey to see the farmers, the growing conditions and the quality of the harvest for themselves. For many years, Michael Dortschack from the raw materials purchasing department has also been part of the team. Uwe still remembers his first visits to the farmers over two decades ago: “Conversations about cultivation methods and harvesting conditions quickly turned into friendships. These long-standing partnerships are the foundation of our company.
