Unser Schwesterunternehmen @FabuLens, eine @SPRIN-D-Forschungsgesellschaft mit dem Ziel der Weiterentwicklung unserer UV-Replikationstechnologie für die Herstellung von miniaturisierten Objektiven für Smartphone-Kameramodule, hatte vergangene Woche eine hohe Delegation der Stadt zu Gast. Danke an den Jenaer Oberbürgermeister Dr. @Thomas Nitzsche, JenaWirtschaft-Geschäftsführer @Wilfried Röpke und TIP-Geschäftsführer Dr. @Thomas Ganz für Ihren Besuch und das gezeigte Interesse an unseren Entwicklungen zur Hochvolumenproduktion kostensensitiver optischer Komponenten und Subsysteme am Standort Deutschland.

Zusammen mit unseren Partnern SpaceOptix GmbH, Ernst-Abbe-Hochschule Jena (Fachbereich SciTec) und AIM Micro Systems GmbH arbeiten wir an der Erforschung einer durchgehenden Prozesskette zur Herstellung optischer Komponenten aus temperaturstabilen Polymeren sowie der Integration zu Objektiven und Kameras für Innenraumanwendungen in Fahrzeugen.

When it comes to #production of #optics, most echnologies (except for high-precision additive manufacturing #AM) are not suited for #prototyping and small series production, particularly for #medical, #automotive, and #consumer markets. Novel designs are usually evaluated theoretically, and if they have to be practically tested, their fabrication is currently very expensive. #Cost is an issue, as always, hindering simple testing of new lens designs in very small quantities. Technologies which are capable to overcome this obstacle and which are suited for #volumeproduction, feeding the hungry consumer market, are needed. Part of the fees are used for workshop costs (catering, event website, tech and service staff, administration). The rest is used for our #educational projects for #children, #adolescents and #adults to better prepare people for #future challenges and to #enable them to cope with them in the here and now. We want to start with #photonicsdriven #technologies, but we are completely tech-open, also holistically considering #economic, #ecologic, and #social aspects. This helps to generate #workforce (in Germany alone, according to the latest news, we have about 700,000 vacancies), but also to overcome existing gaps in our societies in order to counteract the polarization of #society and to prevent for hate, fake news, and harassment. We need more #knowledgedriven approaches. In addition, our companies can make a difference and creating more business in demonstrating a strong commitment for ecology, people and providing useful technologies to their customers. Die FabuLens GmbH sucht Verstärkung 💪 in #Jena: TEAMASSISTENT:IN (M/W/D) FabuLens ist eine Tochter der SPRIND - Bundesagentur für Sprunginnovationen und verfolgt das Ziel, mittels einer angepassten Kombination aus optischem Präzisionsspritzguss und der der Halbleiterfertigung entlehnten sogenannten Wafer-Level-Optik (WLO) die Hochvolumenproduktion kleiner Linsen z.B. für Smartphone-Kameramodule zu revolutionieren. Damit soll wieder deren profitable Produktion in Deutschland ermöglicht werden, bei gleichzeitig verringertem Energie- und Ressourcenverbrauch und damit einhergehener Reduktion der CO2-Emissionen. Day 5, 6 of SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics #PW24 and ready to take off ✈️ That was quite some amazing week with all the people I’ve met, friends and peers, old and new buddies, and - uff - four different conferences (#opticalinterconnects, #3DPrinting, #lasercomponentsintegration, #emergingtechnologies). Consequently, I had four different sessions to share, mainly industry- and technology-driven. The connection of transferring one technology to the next level and supporting to generating sound scalable business from this is one of my favorites (among many others though). That might explain my faible for #startups. Talking about startups, I brought mcd - modern camera designs GmbH and FabuLens GmbH, (#Jena) the latter being a 100 % entity of SPRIND - Bundesagentur für Sprunginnovationen, Akhetonics (#Munich and #Berlin) and Gixel GmbH and #Viaholo (#Karlsruhe) and connected them to interesting peers from industry. Connecting people and getting people from different #science and #industrial communities connected is always a pleasure, particularly if one realizes the #impact sometimes created. Aside from that, there have been exciting side events of all kind: #WomeninXR #PrismAward #StartupChallenge #PWExhibition, not necessarily called a side event though. SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics member’s reception and Optica’s VIP event, both at The Museum of Modern Art, were fantastic (although my feet might think differently). Almost ready to leave now I have many extra thoughts which I will keep private. The others will be shared on the Society6.0 Network for Socio-Economic Disruption site, once they’re ready to lift off.
