This recognition highlights the significance of the ENABLE project, which is dedicated to tackling the adverse effects of climate change on agriculture. The researchers are exploring the conditions necessary for soils and plants to remain productive while integrating cutting-edge solutions like drones, farm robots, sensors, artificial intelligence, robotic-assisted weeding, and simulations. And that’s a wrap in Berlin! What an incredible day, filled with energy, creativity, and inspiring ideas! Every team brought something unique to the table, and it’s clear that each idea had the potential to make a real impact. We truly believe that everyone is a winner for the passion and innovation they showed throughout the hackathon—however, we did have to choose! A huge congratulations to our winners: Paige Postma, Dishunee Pandya, Niklas Michels, and Minette Mangahas - The KiezGarden team! 🎉 Their innovative concept, #TheKiezGardenWheel, stood out as a solution to bridge communication gaps within community gardens. The idea of this digital planner is designed to enhance knowledge sharing, streamline planning, and foster a sense of connection among community gardens, both internally and externally. The concept will be developed further under the mentorship of Opendot. 👏 Kudos to the team behind The KiezGarden for their vision, and thank you to everyone who participated. Day 1 recap of EOSC Symposium 2024: Key highlights and takeaways Today we welcomed around 460 participants in Berlin and another 900 online viewers, together representing 60 nations, including 25 countries outside of Europe. As it enters its operational phase, the message is clear: #EOSC is becoming an increasingly global endeavour central to European competitiveness. Opening the meeting via video address was the German Minister for Education and Research Bettina Stark-Watzinger, who, in recognising EOSC as an enabler for researchers, had a simple message: National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) goes EOSC, and it is time for all countries in Europe to go EOSC! Also via video address, European Commissioner Iliana Ivanova threw the full weight of the Commission behind EOSC, reaffirming its commitment in strong terms. In this she was echoed by Deputy DG for DG-RTD, Signe Ratso, who positioned EOSC as a central pillar in the European Research Area, and by former Italian prime minister Enrico Letta who declared EOSC to be of “the greatest importance” to the 5th freedom coined by his report on the future of the European single market: a European #knowledge commons dedicated to #research, #innovation, knowledge and education. The opening plenary was complemented by sessions on societal and economic impact, security of sensitive data, the new Opportunity Area Expert Groups, the EOSC collaboration with the European Health Data Space, and software development for EOSC, including presentations from several of the Horizon Europe INFRAEOSC projects across these sessions. #EOSCsymposium #EOSCsymposium2024 Photos by Andrew Grauman

FEAST Impressions from Portugal!   Our FEAST General Assembly concluded on a high note, with insightful discussions and smiles all around! 😊   The event kicked-off with an inspiring day trip to the Lima Valley and Minho Valley sub-regions, where we all got a chance to look closely at innovative projects and community initiatives that are transforming the region's food system. This was followed by productive discussions on day-two where we discussed takeaways from the site visits and new possibilities, innovative solutions, possible collaborations, strategies, and much more.   We extend our special thanks to Paulo Barreiro de Sousa, the Vice-president of Ponte de Lima Municipality, Ana Paula Vale, Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo, José Paulo Queiroz, Executive Secretary of Comunidade Intermunicipal do Alto Minho (CIM Alto Minho), and luís nobre, Presidente of Câmara Municipal de Viana do Castelo for taking their time out for supporting FEAST’s vision and highlighting the importance of sustainable food systems, with a focus on promoting healthy eating, supporting local production, reducing food waste, and enhancing food education through collaboration between local farmers, schools, municipalities, and stakeholders.   Please find detailed information about the entire event on our FEAST Press Corner: https://lnkd.in/e8KBGw_R We look forward to meeting again with more transformative ideas on the European Food System!   #feast2030 #transformation #sustainability #foodsystem

And it’s a Wrap! ParKli completed its three-year journey in June, by presenting its work and results in the field of participatory climate research. On behalf of ParKli, we would like to thank all the participatory citizens, and citizen scientists, including climate detectives and advisory board members.
