POINTLY is thrilled to announce our participation in the EuroSDR Workshop on State-of-the-Art 3D Mapping 🌍   📅 When: January 22–23, 2025 📍 Where: IGN - French Mapping Agency (Institut Géographique National) France, St Mandé, Paris   We’re excited to share that Sid Hinrichs will deliver a presentation titled: "Experience with the Digital Twin of BKG, Germany" 📌 Time Slot: January 23, 11:00–12:30 (CET)   Sid will showcase our general approach and workflow for automating the classification of large LiDAR surveys. The presentation will focus on how this process is being applied to the Digital Twin of BKG, Germany, highlighting our current implementation and insights.   The Workshop hosted by EuroSDR brings together several European National Mapping Agencies (NMCAs) like Swisstopo, IGN France, Kadaster NL and many more to exchange insights on their 3D mapping activities, discuss future plans, and address challenges in producing and utilizing 3D data.    Pointly is excited to contribute a unique perspective to the workshop, exchanging insights on current challenges and opportunities in 3D data processing and analysis to address societal and global challenges.   💡 Participation is open to everyone interested in 3D developments at National Mapping Agencies and contributing to defining open research questions.   Looking forward to connecting with you!

🌟 Exciting News from Pointly! 🌟 We’re proud to announce the successful completion of our follow-up project with the City of Helsinki! 🎉 Once again, Pointly has classified a city wide lidar survey for Helsinki consisting of high-density aerial point clouds collected in 2024. ✅ 350+ km² area classified ✅ 50+ billion points processed via the Pointly API ✅ Improved Vegetation Classification With a new top-down approach, trees are now separated even cleaner from bushes and other low vegetation. We’ve refined our methods to analyze individual objects, such as single trees, while excluding neighboring points. In comparison, traditional methods divide each single tree into high, medium, and low vegetation, by cutting off each class based on their height-above-ground. The Pointly approach delivers a much better basis for vegetation analysis.
