SBRS GmbH has won the public tender of the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) for the Stella project
Hamburg – SBRS GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of Shell Deutschland GmbH, has won the public tender of the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) for the Stella project (charging infrastructure at terminal stops in the city area (Charge 1)).
As the general contractor, SBRS will take over the planning services, including design and approval planning, for up to 36 advertised terminal stops with up to 101 charging points. The contract also includes the conversion and electrification of the first 10 terminal stops. The remaining stops are part of a framework agreement and can be called up at short notice if required.
At the beginning of 2024 SBRS and Zech Group had already won the contract for the construction of the depot on Säntisstraße with 220 charging points. Now, with the award of the Stella project, the successful business relationship between BVG and SBRS as the general contractor continues.
By 2030, BVG plans to convert its bus fleet to locally emission-free vehicles in accordance with the Berlin Mobility Act and the current transport contract with the State of Berlin. Up to 320 electric articulated buses are to be procured by mid-2027, which can be charged both at the depot and at the terminal stops. The SBRS infrastructure significantly supports the decarbonization of the BVG bus fleet. “We are pleased to be able to make another active contribution to the electrification of public transport in Berlin,” says Andreas Stahl, Managing Director of SBRS GmbH. “With our turnkey solutions, we are now providing BVG with reliable and comprehensive infrastructure for electromobility at the terminal stops in addition to the depot equipment on Säntisstraße.”
With the second major project for SBRS in 2024, BVG can once again rely on a partner with extensive experience in planning and operating such projects. Winning the tender is in line with Shell’s strategy to support our customers in the sustainable growth of their business and to drive the mobility transition in transport.”
