We came together at the 5th Trinational Healthtech Days at BadenCampus, our yearly get together in the Upper-Rhine to bridge industry, academia, and startups in innovation and entrepreneurship.

The event underscored the rapid growth in cross-border collaboration, with an increasing number of startups and investors recognizing the value of joining forces across Switzerland, Germany, and France. The momentum in the Upper Rhine Valley’s health tech ecosystem continues to build, driving impactful innovations that bridge academia, industry, and entrepreneurship.

B. Braun Group’s CDO Michael Lauk set the tone with a forward-looking keynote, providing industry perspectives on navigating healthcare challenges with technology and data-driven solutions. The subsequent panel discussion on “Ensuring Medical Care Amidst Rising Costs” featured expert insights from Pfizer Thorsten Mintel, Universitätsklinikum Freiburg Julius Wehrle , and IQVIA Oliver Bailey on how digitalization can reshape healthcare delivery.

We proudly hosted the medtech session focused on bridging the gap between startups and hospital implementation. The conversation emphasized a "think from the end" mindset, prioritizing early considerations of clinical validation, quality systems, and regulatory pathways to ensure market readiness. The day concluded with reflections from Michel de Mathelin (University of Strasbourg) on the vital role universities play in enhancing global visibility and Christian Elias Schneider’s vision for the BioCampus Upper Rhine initiative. The spirit of collaboration was palpable, with a shared commitment to continue strengthening partnerships across borders.
