With #SCS, we have jointly created open standards and open technology that have already proven themselves in practice. The idea was validated with the help of SPRIND - Bundesagentur für Sprunginnovationen. The Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz has provided the start-up funding. One of the main outcomes of the Sovereign Cloud Stack project are open standards for cloud computing which are the base of the SCS Certificates. They were developed and implemented by the Special Interest Group Standardization and Certification. dNation has won 3 SCS tenders in Container ­Registry (VP06c), Networking (VP04) and Health Monitoring (VP12) areas. This talk by Martin Pilka, CEO of dNation, summarizes what was accomplished during the last two years of their work on these tenders, especially in the fields of monitoring of IaaS and Kaas using dNation Monitoring, automated testing, improving OpenStack security and supporting devices using SONiC open source network operating system. https://lnkd.in/d5HH2GD2

Operating a cloud is a mission critical task. Customers depend on a fully functioning and performant infrastructure for their applications. Unfortunatly, incidents happen and infrastructure services might degrate for a short period of time. For that time the customer need to be informed in a easy way. The general approach is a independent status page that shows the health of the platform. In the context of the Sovereign Cloud Stack (SCS), a new status page application was developed based on current technology and extensibility in mind. It features a standadized API and a microservice approach and can easily rolled out on a standard Kubernetes cluster. The Sovereign Cloud Stack has, of course, also a Kubernetes layer: the Cluster Stacks. In the presentation of Team KaaS at the EOF event they give an overview of the achievements and tool set of the SCS container and cluster layer and introduce Cluster Stacks as a ready to go Kubernetes solution. https://lnkd.in/d5CU8uYx

At our EOF event in September the SCS Project presented all results of the 3,5 years funded open source project. In the opening session Kurt Garloff, CTO of the project, Jens Plogsties Plogstieß from SysEleven GmbH, host of the day, and Ernst Stöckl-Pukall from the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz welcomed the SCS Community, gave a short summary of the project and took a little glimpse in the possible future. https://lnkd.in/eF29Zqk6 #opensource #community #sovereignty #collaboration
