“A quantum leap for Europe’s data economy” This summer, Christoph Herr, Industrial Evangelist Manufacturing-X at VDMA (Association of German Mechanical & Plant Engineering), wrote a guest commentary for F.A.Z. PRO Digitalwirtschaft. He mentions the EU Data Act, which holds huge potential for Europe in the global data economy. #dataspaces, going back to the invention of Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, form the most important IT component, as they enable new business models by easy and fast #datasharing. When it comes to shaping this new architecture, he says “we have a blank sheet of paper in front of us that can be written with the names of completely new companies, e. g. sovity from Dortmund [among others…], who have extensive technical knowledge and exiting ideas. This remarkable event gathered thought leaders, innovators, and organizations shaping the future of Data Spaces. Sebastian delivered an inspiring presentation on sovity's revolutionary approach to Data Space technology, demonstrating how our solutions empower businesses to create #sovereign data spaces. The key discussion with nexyo, Novatrust and VTT made the talk inspiring. Connecting with Günther Tschabuschnig from DIO - Data Intelligence Offensive was highly insightful. As a key figure in the Open Data movement, he plays a crucial role in uniting efforts across the D-A-CH-LI region. Equally inspiring was to engage with MASARU DOBASHI from NTT DATA, who plays a vital role in driving forward Data Spaces. It was also a pleasure to meet Fritz Fahringer from datahub.tirol, who is dedicated driving the advancement of the data economy. 🌐 Reflections on the Global Data Spaces Connect 2024 in Vienna 🌐 On November 13, 2024, my colleague Sebastian Kleff, our CEO, and I had the privilege of attending the Global Data Spaces Connect 2024 (#GDSC24) in Vienna. It was an inspiring day, offering a unique opportunity to engage with leading experts, visionaries, and organizations from across the industry. A standout moment of the event was the presentation by Sebastian Kleff, who, as the CEO of sovity, showcased our cutting-edge Data Space technology. This solution empowers businesses to create sovereign data spaces with ease and onboard participants swiftly. His speech also highlighted an exciting use case from our client, UNDERPIN project, whose data-driven business model has been significantly advanced and supported by our technology. The event also facilitated thought-provoking discussions on the necessity of sustainable business models and viable Data Spaces. We were particularly inspired by the following statements: Jonathan H.s (EONA-X): "We believe in the power of a common goal." Peter Kraemer (Capgemini): "Winning needs investment! Running a Data Space is like running a company - We need something sustainable!" Jarek Kowalski (Huawei): "Data does not stop at borders." 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐤’𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐓𝐨𝐨𝐥 Kate Iida & João Ricardo Vasconcelos from the The World Bank discuss their collaboration with Bulgaria to establish nine new data spaces.
