❓ Have you ever wondered what modern mobility is based on? There have been countless inventions that have made mobility what it is today, one of which is the #Voith fluid coupling developed in 1929. This coupling was invented by Voith in collaboration with Dr. Hermann Föttinger and is based on the Föttinger principle. On the occasion of Dr. Hermann Föttinger’s 148th birthday yesterday, we would like to honor him and his groundbreaking invention. 🎉 ➡️ Already back in 1905, Dr. Hermann Föttinger was awarded the patent for a “Hydraulic transmission with one or more driving and one or more driven turbine wheels to transfer power between adjacent shafts”. Because of this, he is regarded as the inventor of the compact torque converter. When Voith received an order in 1927 to supply pumps and turbines for the Herdecke pumped storage power plant - a project that demanded the transmission of 36,000 horsepower and could not be met with existing mechanical solutions - the Voith engineers used the advantages of a hydrodynamic coupling based on the Föttinger principle and built the Voith fluid coupling in consolidation with him. ➡️ Today, nearly a century later, the Föttinger principle continues to be an integral part of modern drive technologies, demonstrating the enduring value of innovation and engineering excellence. ⚙️💡 #inventor #innovation #engineering #mobility

2️⃣6️⃣ years and counting! For over 26 years, #Voith and the 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 e. V. have shared an uninterrupted partnership. ⚽🤝 We are proud to have closely accompanied the club’s extraordinary rise to the 1st Bundesliga and becoming the sporting flagship of the entire Ostwürttemberg region around Voith’s headquarters in Heidenheim. At a recent event in the Voith-Arena, sponsors and partners were given insights into the club’s latest developments. It was inspiring to see the optimism of the #FCH leadership and to feel the unity and strong bond within the club and with its partners. We wish the FCH great success for the rest of the season and keep our fingers crossed that the team remains in the 1st Bundesliga and continues its journey in European football! 💪

❓ Did you know that Friedrich #Voith developed a remarkable advancement in technical drawing at the end of the 19th century? In Heidenheim an der Brenz, the upright drafting table with a horizontal drafting rail was integrated into the new drawing room, revolutionizing the way engineers worked. These drafting tables were not only flexible and movable but also height-adjustable, making it much easier to work on challenging areas of the sheet. Each drafting table was equipped with a practical desk for placing drawings and writing materials, while the horizontal rail provided additional space for compasses, pencils, and erasers. 🛠️📐 ➡️ Another benefit: working at the upright drafting table was healthier. No wonder visitors showed great interest, and Voith soon began offering the production of these innovative drafting tables upon request. Measuring 1800mm x 1250mm, a total of 80 of these drafting tables were in use in Voith's drawing room in 1887. An impressive chapter in innovation history that shows Voith’s early commitment to smarter ways of working! 🚀 #Innovation #History #TechnicalDrawing #EngineeringHistory

Last week, we reported on our Vice President Corporate Sustainability, Matthias Steybe, discussing the topic of #CircularEconomy and the approaches of #Voith with other experts of the subject and the industry. But what exactly is the circular economy, and why is it essential for a sustainable future? #Sustainability is what drives us at Voith, and circular economy is one important cornerstone for improving our sustainability performance. Nature is the best teacher for that: It shows us how not to waste anything and how to constantly optimize and reuse. Inspired by this principle, the circular economy consists of the six elements Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Refurbish, Recycle, and Rethink. Our aim is to assist our customers in using their resources more efficiently while reducing their environmental impact. Successful examples include our recycling solutions such as the BlueLine stock preparation system, which transforms recovered paper into fresh and fine paper, contributing to a more resource-efficient paper production. Another example is our maintenance and refurbishing services, which extend the lifespan of existing applications of our customers, for example in hydropower plants as well as in trains, trucks, or ships. By integrating the circular economy principles, we not only conserve resources but also significantly reduce CO₂ emissions in the long run. Together, we can embrace nature’s blueprint and integrate circular economy principles into our industries. Let's take nature as a model and preserve our world for future generations! 🌱✨
