Why is Germany lagging behind? Building trust in artificial intelligence can take time. Nevertheless, AI is used in many areas, whether for generating ideas in marketing or for automating entire processes in retail. Johan van Hemert from REMIRA believes that implementing AI will still take some time – especially in Germany. Countries in Scandinavia or the USA are quicker to introduce complete KI-driven automation. This is also due to the fact that you simply have to believe the data that an AI outputs, says van Hemert. Processes that are carried out by humans are easier to explain. The processes behind an AI and the data it works with must therefore also be explained in detail to the customer. How do you get your customers to trust AI-supported processes?

In ten years, up to 80% of retail processes could be taken over by AI, believes Felix Schweikardt from visioncheckout. However, he assumes that it will actually only be closer 40% because AI integration is taking longer than expected. However, visioncheckout is already teaching the cameras to see what the customer is buying. With this automation they create more efficiency in retail. In canteens, for example, the cameras visually recognize what is on the tray. It is then booked into the system and collected via self-checkout. This significantly reduces waiting times. At the same time, the system analyzes the data for better processes and higher quality. Another point: staff can be deployed where they are needed most. This saves up to 60 % on personnel costs. How can you practically improve your processes with AI? Send us a DM and tell us about your use case in our EuroShop.mag!
