Stunning picture of Wind Peak jacked up off the coast of Aberdeen last week. The team completed a full preload in under 24 hours, as well as a 24 metres penetration into the seabed. According to our chief engineer, that’s a company record! Wind Peak was engineered to withstand some of the most challenging soil conditions across the globe, and it sure looks satisfying to see her do what she was built for! Soon, Wind Peak and the crew will be full speed on their next project, and this is not just any project! The 1.4 GW Sofia wind farm in the North Sea will be one of the largest single offshore wind farms in the world. Cadeler will assist Siemens Gamesa with the transport and installation of a 100 of the impressive 14MW WTGs. When completed, the wind farm will potentially provide almost 1.2 million UK homes with their annual electricity needs. This means, more than 2.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions per year will be saved! (source: Digest of UK Energy Statistics) Stay with us for more on this soon!
