Keep your tunnels and underground structures dry

Om os

Build your tunnels and underground structures safely, by permanently preventing pressure. Manufacture of products for draining tunnels, basements and other underground structures. Dolenco Drain works on UN goals 9 and 12 on sustainable infrastructure: We help to build durable and safe basements, tunnels and other underground structures. By permanently preventing water pressure on the linings, we reduce construction cost and time, eliminate/minimise costly repairs during construction and over the life-cycle of the structure, and reduce LCC and CO2. The modules are mounted in extension of one another with an easy click system, nailed to the surface with a nail gun and covered with a layer of shotcrete. Not only does choosing Dolenco Drain reduce the cost, time and CO2 significantly, it also has additional benefits such as simplifying construction, a longer design life and lower maintenance.

  • Tunneling presents numerous engineering challenges, and effective water management is crucial to maintain the durability of the structure. One of the key concerns is hydrostatic pressure, which can lead to water ingress, leaks, and even structural deterioration over time. Without proper drainage, accumulated water can weaken tunnel linings, cause cracking, and increase long-term maintenance costs. To address this, Dolenco Drain offers an drainage solution designed to permanently relieve water pressure behind tunnel linings. 💡How does it work? Dolenco Drain consists of interconnected drainage channels that efficiently collect and redirect water away from the structure. It can be seamlessly integrated with shotcrete, spray membranes and traditional waterproofing solutions. ☝️Key benefits: ✔ Prevents hydrostatic pressure: eliminating long-term water-related damage. ✔ Slim monolithic structure, reduces the amount of concrete used. ✔ Flexible design: adapting to various tunnel surfaces. ✔ Reduces the need for post-injection and repairs, saving both time and costs. ✔ Durable and sustainable: made from recycled material with more then 120-year lifespan. With Dolenco Drain, engineers can ensure a safer, more efficient, and long-lasting tunnel infrastructure. #Tunneling #Engineering #WaterManagement #DolencoDrain #Infrastructure #Shotcrete #DrainageSolution

  • Important railroad refurbishing is going on in the tunnels connecting the national network in Spain and the further connection to the european railroads. After expanding the existing tunnel, a new shotcrete lining has been applied, including Dolenco Drain, to assure longterm durability. Dolenco Drain can be mounted with very little space, and here it is done even with the train still running. This was done with a clever buildup around the tracks, so work could be done safely. We appreciate the trust and incredible work being done under difficult conditions by our partners.

  • What is your biggest challenge in tunnels? Most of us would probably say structural integrity over the lifetime of the structure. Construction of a tunnel depends on uncertain, geological conditions and this makes it a risky and often complicated process. Water ingress is highly variable and changes continuously during construction and over the lifetime of the structure. Without proper drainage, water pressure accumulates behind the tunnel lining, forcing moisture through cracks and joints. This results in leaking ceilings, icicle formation in cold climates, and corrosion of reinforcing elements. Over time, continuous exposure to water deteriorates the tunnel lining, requiring frequent maintenance and costly repairs. These issues effect all types of tunnels and underground structures. Traditional approaches to water control in tunnel renovations solve the temporary problem of seeping, while Dolenco Drain permanently eliminate the water pressure causing seeping now and in the future. Dolenco Drain is a module with dimensions are 800 by 1200 mm, height 14 mm, looks as a linear drainage mesh, is easy to install, speeds up the pace of construction, and the operation efficiency is practically independent of the human factor. By applying Dolenсo Drain you are designing a thin structure with a network of drainage channels inside the first concrete layer of the structure, which prevents water accumulation and eliminates water pressure on the structure, which is a primary function of Dolenco Drain. What advantages will you get applying Dolenco Drain to rehabilitate an old tunnel? - Permanently preventing hydrostatic pressure - Allows for Thinner Structural Sections  - Reducing in the total concrete thickness - Long-Term Structural Integrity; extending tunnel lifespan  - Minimizes construction and repair time and simplifies construction in total. ➡️ 📄 Kindly refer to the attached document outlining three different examples of applications. Using Dolenco Drain provides a durable and efficient method, which enables faster and more reliable renovations while ensuring long-term tunnel integrity. • In American Shotcrete Association`s Shotcrete Magazine latest publication, we have elaborated on how best to use Dolenco Drain with shotcrete, addressing many of the difficulties with controlling or eliminating water pressure in an easy, safe, long-term, and cost-effective manner. Even with all the technical and efficiency advantages of shotcreting, a major challenge remains in constructing underground and soil retaining structures: The presence of free and capillary water in fissures of rock formations and the non-rocky soil base, which impacts the structure during construction and maintenance. We appreciate input about shotcrete from Charles Hanskat and Cara Baker, in preparation of our presentation to the shotcrete community. https://lnkd.in/gND5Nybf #Shotcrete #Sprayconcrete #Waterproofing #DrainageSolution #DolencoDrain #Lining #Infrastructure #AmericanShotcreteAssociation #ShotcreteMagazine

  • How do you address water challenges in underground construction? Underground constructing, especially in tunneling, is seen as one of the most complex challenges in the field of civil engineering. The presence of free and capillary water in fissures of rock formations and the non-rocky soil base, which impacts the structure during construction and maintenance, is one of the major challenge in constructing underground and soil retaining structures. Water pressure on tunnel structures is an important design challenge that often requires creative solutions to mitigate water flow and prevent potential damage. During construction, you see footprints from incoming water on the floor and on the walls, which forces its way through the designed layers. The occurrence of this, shows that excavating of underground space in rock masses or saturated soil during tunnel construction, changes stress-strain state in soil/rock base and this can affect the concrete lining layers and cause micro cracks. Additionally the changed hydrogeologic conditions of free migration of water in mass, leading to increased hydrostatic pressure on the tunnel lining, which can force water through cracks or defects in concrete, can cause issues during construction and future tunnel operation. The Lyon Turin Railway Tunnel project between France and Italy is a good example of a complicated project, which typically can reveal a variating number of surprises during construction. Because a tunnel lining, as with all underground structures, is often exposed to ground water pressure and therefore requires water management, an integrated drain mesh solution behind the tunnel lining of a shotcrete layer and in combinations with the other design components, Dolenco Drain can safely and efficiently prevent water pressure buildup on the inner lining as seen in a variety of applications around the world. Dolenco Drain is an innovative solution which addresses many of the difficulties concerning water pressure in an easy, safe, long-term and cost-effective manner. #TunnelConstruction #WaterManagement #CivilEngineering #Shotcreting #HydrostaticPressure #TunnelingSolutions #DolencoDrain #UndergroundEngineering #InfrastructureInnovation #TunnelDesign #Waterproofing #SustainableEngineering #ConstructionChallenges #turin #lyon #LyonTurinTunnel #TunnelTechnology #EngineeringSolutions
