It’s rare for a single event to have such a direct impact on the pace of the green transition - especially for offshore wind energy - as tomorrow’s US presidential election could have. At Green Ducklings, our focus remains on improving the odds for success in offshore wind, and like many of our clients, we’re deeply invested in the US offshore wind market. With that in mind, I’m sharing a few reflections on the US offshore wind outlook under a potential Trump administration in the article below. I’d love to hear others' perspectives on what this election could mean for the industry. And feel free to reach out, if you’d like to learn more about what we’re working on at Green Ducklings.

Today, I had the pleasure of representing Green Ducklings at a seminar in Ålesund, hosted by GCE Blue Maritime Cluster and Innovation Norway. It was an excellent opportunity to discuss the future of the Norwegian maritime industry in the offshore wind market. I will be presenting our study again at the upcoming Norwegian Energy Partners (NORWEP) 2024 Energy Market Presentations event in Bergen next week. Signup is open to all, and I encourage anyone interested to join us for this insightful event. We will also present the study in Oslo later this autumn, with more information to follow soon. The market study highlights significant Norwegian export opportunities in the offshore wind vessel market, particularly in the (C)SOV, CTV, and Cable Laying Vessel segments. We further emphasize the importance for the Norwegian maritime industry to focus on the fixed-bottom wind market for near-term growth and to maintain strong collaboration within the maritime clusters. I look forward to continuing this momentum and exploring these exciting opportunities further with Innovation Norway and the Norwegian maritime supply chain.

Exciting opportunities for the Norwegian maritime industry in the offshore wind market! 🌊 This week, we co-hosted a seminar together with Innovation Norway unveiling a new market study by Green Ducklings. The study, part of the "Hele Norge Eksporterer" strategy, maps the offshore wind vessel market and highlights significant opportunities for the Norwegian maritime industry in the offshore wind sector. Key insights: 🌬️ Significant opportunities in (C)SOV, CTV, and Cable Laying Vessel segments 🌬️ Focus needed on fixed-bottom wind market for near-term growth 🌬️ Crucial to maintain and strengthen collaboration within our maritime cluster Thank you to all contributors and participants! 👏 Interested in learning more about the offshore wind market and your company's opportunities? This Wednesday, I was invited to give a presentation on offshore wind ports, future capacity challenges, and the need for cross-border collaboration at the North Sea Wind Conference 🌊. Public speaking is not a skill I have had the chance to practice a lot previously, so I must admit that I was quite nervous when walking on stage. Luckily, as soon as I entered the podium, I forgot about being nervous as I could discuss a topic of great interest to me: the offshore wind industry challenges and opportunities, and the importance of the supply chain in developing the right strategy ⚡️. The presentation went quite well, I believe. I went a few minutes beyond the appointed time, but I am certain that my intended points were understood. Here are the key points I covered: 1. There are significant opportunities awaiting the offshore wind supply chain around the North Sea with the increased pace of offshore wind build-out towards 2030 🌬️. 2. Bottlenecks are lurking in the industry, which is highly likely to postpone offshore wind development and will certainly make us miss the 2030 installation targets 🚧. 3. Ports are among the most critical infrastructure in developing offshore wind. They are essential for fabrication, marshalling purposes, and as homes to O&M bases. As yearly installation capacity increases and components grow larger, strengthened requirements emerge for offshore wind ports, both regarding physical parameters such as water depth, quay bearing capacity, etc., as well as requirements for financial stability, sustainability measures, and so forth 🏗️. 4. For port owners, the supply chain, and developers, these factors have quite a few strategic implications that must be considered when drafting your winning offshore wind industry strategy 📈. Following my presentation, the topics of offshore wind ports were further discussed with industry colleagues from Sarens (Henry Vermeulen), Windport (Turid Storhaug), and Port of Aalborg (Jesper Raakjær). Thank you each for a great session! 🤝 If you wish to learn more about drafting the right future proof strategy for your port development, discuss the implications of industry bottlenecks for your development portfolio, or how you as a supply chain company can benefit from the predicted market growth, then reach out to us at Green Ducklings.
