🚀 Together for more European Space collaboration! The Scientific team of the Institut Français du Danemark attended the National Space Conference 2024 hosted at Aarhus University on November 26th and 27th. 🇪🇺 Insighful contributions notably from the Ministry of Higher Education and Science, the European Space Agency - ESA, Dansk Industri, Danish space companies, Danish astronaut Andreas Mogensen, and academic stakeholders on the Danish Space Strategy 2025-2035 as well as Denmark's priorities in this field for its EU presidency next year, with important milestones to be negotiated in Brussels. Congratulations again Denmark for setting up this ambitious strategy with a strong European component! The two days event, hosted in a very welcoming atmosphere, allowed great networking opportunities with the Danish Space Community and concrete discussions on European collaboration, Danish missions projects such as the Máni mission, as well as students' initiatives in Danish universities. 🇫🇷 🇩🇰 The different sessions also presented concrete science projects involving Danish stakeholders and other European partners, including French ones. France and Denmark collaborate in ESA projects. Several Danish space companies have connections with the Toulouse space hub. Institut français du Danemark welcomed yesterday Véra Nikolski in Copenhagen for two interventions at the University of Copenhagen (KU) and Den Franske Bogcafé. She presented her new book "Féminicène" (Fayard, 2023), which looks back at the evolution of women's social, political and economic status over the course of history, and the decisive factors behind this process. Assuming that these developments are due less to feminist movements than to technical progress, Véra Nikolski warns that climate disruption and the resource crisis at work could challenge the ongoing process of feminist emancipation. Yesterday, our director Carl Engelsen spoke at the opening of EGMUN 2024, an excellent initiative by Espergærde Gymnasium which brings together students from different countries to help them better understand the principles and workings of the UnitedNations, diplomacy and multilateral cooperation during 4 days of debates and simulated negotiations on issues of #peace, #security and #sustainable development. This year's main topic is "International Cooperation in a world of growing unease and conflict.” 🤝 Bon courage à toutes et à tous ! #EGMUN2024 #UnitedNations #UN #politics #diplomacy

🇫🇴🇫🇷 Exciting mission to the Faroe Islands to talk about higher education and research collaboration ! From 6th to 9th November, the university and scientific cooperation team from the Institut Français visited the #FaroeIslands. They had inspiring interaction with the students at the #MarkleysÚtbúgving hosted at the Nordic House in #Torshavn and the opportunity to introduce the #French higher education system & opportunities to study in #France. Thanks a lot for the organization ! Following the student orientation forum, the French team had a series of insightful meetings with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Children and Education, the Research Council Faroe Islands, The University of the Faroe Islands and the Faroe Marine Research Institute on #education, #research, #ocean, #climatechange and #arctic studies. The French delegation shared information on the two upcoming summits that will be hosted in #France in 2025 - the #AIActionSummit in February and the #UNOC3 Summit in June - and several initiatives such as #Mercator and Fondation Tara Océan drifiting polar station in the Arctic. They exchanged views on the ongoing discussions between the Faroe Islands and the #EuropeanUnion following the MoU on enhanced cooperation signed with the EU in March 2024, notably in the field of higher education and research as well as the ambition to join the #Erasmus+ program. At #Havstovan, they assessed the current collaboration between French research institutions and universities - such as Ifremer, CNRS Mercator Ocean International, École normale supérieure, Sorbonne Université, IRD - and Feroese ones in several EU #Horizon projects in the fields of #climate and #ocean such as the #JERICO-RI project on coastal marine system changes (coordinated by Ifremer) ; the #ObsSea4Clim project or #Aquarius. At the university, the discussion highlighted the new European university alliance #EUNICoast (European Alliance of Islands, Ports and Coastal Territories) that brings together universities with a common connection to the sea ; #EUNICoast is coordinated by Université Le Havre Normandie, with the participation of the University of the Faroe Islands and the Université des Antilles (French West Indies). Finally, the French team had the opportunity to discover the beautiful nature of the Faroe Islands and had a very warm welcome thanks to our excellent Honorary Consul.

🖊🇫🇷 On November 20 French essayist Véra Nikolski will visit Copenhagen to present her new book “Féminicène” - a work that dives into the history of women emancipation, its achievements as well as dangers. 📝 Féminicène : Women's social, political and economic status has changed considerably throughout history, particularly in recent decades. But what are the decisive factors in this process? Starting from the premise that it is less a question of feminist demands than of technical and, in particular, medical progress, this book warns women that climate change and the lack of resources cause a social destabilization that threatens the emancipation of women. 🌿 Born into a family of scientists, Véra Nikolski graduated from the Ecole Normale Supérieure with a DEA in Social Sciences and a PhD in Political Science. Her second book, “Féminicène” (Fayard, 2023), is a work that combines feminism and the climate crisis.
