Presenting a market map of Estonia’s climate tech startups! 🇪🇪🌱 Since beginning my research here, I’ve tracked over 80+ climate companies being built in Estonia’s startup sector. These enterprises range from supporting sustainable forestry practices to deep technologies developing eco-positive materials. Some things I’ve learned and discovered so far: • Almost a third of all climate tech startups here are currently tackling clean energy issues, such as VOOL and Roofit.Solar. • Four of the top 10 highest funded startups in Estonia are climate companies, ranging from energy storage company Skeleton Technologies to green hydrogen enterprise Elcogen. • In 2023, approximately 40% of funding deals were toward climate tech companies like RAIKU Packaging, Woola, and Arbonics. 👉 I’m currently interviewing climate founders, investors, and operators across Estonia to tell the story of the country’s green innovations. En torno a esta premisa giró el evento en el que desde FORETICA participamos en la #COP29 de Bakú, Azerbaiyán. Un encuentro organizado por el Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica y el Reto Demográfico y Fundación Biodiversidad, que tuvo lugar en el Spanish Pavilion y en el que participó como ponente Germán Granda, Ph.D., Director General de FORETICA, y estuvo moderado además por Camila Kauer, Project Manager de FORETICA. 📝 Pudimos acercar conceptos para comprender los retos y oportunidades ESG de la #IAresponsable que destacamos en nuestro #ManifiestoIAresponsable, con 5 principios clave para guiar a las empresas y organizaciones en su implementación. 🤝 También conocimos los compromisos corporativos y organizacionales en relación con la integración de la #IA para asegurar que está alineada con los objetivos de cero emisiones netas. 🧑💻 Por último, compartimos buenas prácticas que muestran cómo las organizaciones están implementando actualmente estos principios establecidos del Manifiesto, con ejemplos real y casos de éxito. Turning Forest Data into Value! 🌲 As part of the Forest, Soil, and Biodiversity Green Accelerator, we organized a unique forestry matchmaking event at the Tartu Science Park café. The event brought together IT and forestry companies, investors, leaders from research institutions, startups, and key organizations in the field. The event's aim was to discuss challenges in the sector and explore how these problems can be solved. Timbeter, RMK, HD Forest, Foreko, Center for Environmental Investments, Kliimaministeerium / Ministry of Climate of Estonia, The Open University of the Estonian University of Life Sciences, and Rene Tõnnisson presented their pitches.
