It is crucial for our sovereignty, economic competitiveness and for achieving our climate goals. To help achieve this, we call for bold action from #policymakers at all levels. 📣 Today marks another exciting milestone: the launch of our Manifesto! Regardless of political affiliation, we invite political candidates in the coming #EUelections to pledge their support for ushering in a new era of Iberian climate and industrial leadership. Our vision is based on three pillars:  📈 #Competitiveness, #jobs and #investment: We aim to attract massive private investment to make the Iberian Peninsula Europe's next cleantech hub. This can create thousands of durable, well-paying jobs and foster cleantech innovation and entrepreneurship in the region. 🔋#Energytransition and #sovereignty: We're committed to accelerating the green transition and industrial decarbonisation, leveraging the region's abundant clean energy resources. 👩🔧 #Society, #Citizen Well-being, and #Skills: Our focus is on deploying cleantech skills to empower the workforce and address the clean energy skills gap. We're dedicated to reducing energy poverty and investing in reskilling and upskilling programs to benefit from the green transformation. From urban to rural areas, cleantech offers new opportunities for citizen well-being, while reshaping existing sectors and creating a more lively and cohesive territory. Creating the right policy conditions for these technologies to scale and become global front-runners will assume a strategic priority in the public debate. ⏰ 🏦 “2025 is a crucial year for Portugal and Spain to harness investments in cleantech and driving competitive, low-carbon industries and Iberia becoming an industrial hub!” ⚡️ 🏭 We are proud to have participated in the Lisboa Innovation Tours at #Greenhub by Unicorn Factory Lisboa. It was an incredible opportunity to exchange ideas and explore innovative solutions in #cleantech! Luís Rebelo, contributed his vision on how to accelerate the #decarbonisation of Iberia’s economy: 1️⃣ A strong focus on energy-intensive industries and hard-to-abate sectors like renewable gases, cement, glass, and ceramics is essential. Iberia’s potential in areas like long-duration energy storage is remarkable. 2️⃣ While Portugal is making great strides, investment must remain a top priority. Supporting innovation requires scaling up venture capital, public funding, and late-stage investment. 🌍 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐚𝐰 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬?   Yesterday, Cleantech for Iberia hosted the webinar "Powering the Clean Transition: The Role of Critical Raw Materials," bringing together industrial leaders and Spain’s main climate NGOs in an open dialogue on Europe’s most pressing challenges: ensuring a secure sustainable CRM supply chain to drive the energy transition.   🔑 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬: ✅ Scaling up #Innovations is Pivotal: Ian Hayton (Cleantech Group) highlighted Europe’s growing CRM demand and the urgent need to foster innovation in #extraction, #processing, and #recycling. Breakthrough technologies, such as efficient spodumene processing and direct lithium extraction, are critical to building a sustainable and resilient #CRM supply chain.   ✅ Fit-for-purpose #Regulation: While CRM innovations are overregulated and underfunded in Europe, Cecilia Mattea (IRMA Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance ) emphasised the need for robust sustainability frameworks for mining. Public participation, biodiversity protection, and designated no-go zones for waste facilities are vital to building trust with local communities and ensuring responsible resource management.   ✅ Closing the #Funding Gap: Ruben Davis (Cleantech for Europe) stressed that Europe must address its funding shortfalls to remain competitive and not miss out on innovation opportunities. De-risking is paramount now. By matching global players like the US in investment, Europe can accelerate innovation, scale critical projects, and secure a competitive and sustainable CRM equation on both supply and demand side.   🚀 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: ♻️ cylib (Rebekka Mueller): Leading the way with cutting-edge #recycling technology for #lithium-ion batteries, enabling full recovery of all components, reducing waste, and decreasing import dependency.   🌱 Matteco (Carlos Sanz, CFA): Pioneering next generation #catalysts and electrodes for #greenhydrogen production with sustainable, PGM-free catalysts that enhance efficiency and stability, making hydrogen production more efficient and scalable.   🔋 Skeleton Technologies (Arnaud Castaignet): Advancing #supercapacitors with their patented "Curved Graphene," addressing critical applications in AI data centres, grid stability, heavy transportation, and defence.   Thank you to all our speakers and participants for their invaluable insights. 🚀 The Pulse of Cleantech in Portugal is now live on our website!   Portugal is making remarkable strides toward a sustainable future, and we're excited to share our latest insights on the country's decarbonisation outlook, key technologies, and challenges facing the cleantech ecosystem.   🌟 Did you know that:   🌱 Portugal leads the EU with a renewable electricity target of 93% by 2030. ⚡ Until July 24, renewables contributed to 83% of electricity produced, placing Portugal fourth among the countries with the highest renewable incorporation. 🤝The country is driving innovation through partnerships between industry, academia, and government to foster cleantech development.   From green hydrogen to sustainable aviation fuels and energy storage, there are abundant and unique opportunities to drive cleantech progress and innovation.   However, scaling these solutions requires overcoming obstacles such as regulatory frameworks, investment gaps, and the skills shortage. Luís aims to ensure a new generation of European green industry thrives, and is excited to work closely with policymakers from across the political spectrum and many stakeholders, including the #investors and #scaleups in our coalitions. An experienced professional in legislative procedures and negotiations, he brings a strong command of the key issues facing EU's cleantech sector. Luís formerly worked at the European Parliament for over five years as a Parliamentary Assistant, where he developed deep expertise in climate and sustainability policy. 📰 Expansión publica hoy una entrevista en la que hago balance de este año, mi primer año como ministro de Industria y Turismo. Sin duda, el 2024 ha sido excepcional para nuestro #turismo y de gran impulso para nuestra #industria. Movilizamos políticas públicas como nunca antes se había hecho para reindustrializar España sobre unos pilares de competitividad, autonomía estratégica, descarbonización y digitalización. Hemos trabajado con herramientas como los PERTE, con los que transformamos todos los sectores industriales para adecuarlos a los retos de este siglo. Hemos puesto en marcha planes y proyectos con los que impulsamos nuestras pymes, atraemos inversión y aseguramos la competitividad industrial. Y todo ello mientras hemos confeccionado una nueva Ley de Industria y Autonomía Estratégica con la que queremos lograr un gran pacto político. En turismo, hemos apostado decididamente por una estrategia para nuestro turismo basada en la triple sostenibilidad, económica, social y medioambiental. En este 2024, que ha sido el mejor año de nuestra historia en turismo en cuanto a número de visitantes y, especialmente, por el ingreso que estos han dejado en nuestro país, hemos conseguido desconcentrar destinos, desestacionalizar flujos, digitalizar el sector y diversificar nuestra oferta.
