Synergistic Jahn-Teller and Spin-Orbit Effects in a transition metal oxide Researchers are exploring how quantum properties, like spin-orbit entanglement, emerge in materials. While this is well-studied in heavier metals (4d and 5d), it’s harder in lighter 3d metals because their spin-orbit interactions are weaker. This study shows how an electronic-driven structural effect, called the Jahn-Teller effect, can bridge this gap by enhancing spin-orbit entanglement. These findings reveal new ways to connect material’s spin, orbital, and lattice properties, offering insights into exploring quantum phenomena involving different degrees of freedom in solids. El passat 21 de novembre, el grup Nanomol-bio va participar en el III Congrés #TECNIO a la Factoria Cultural de Terrassa (LaFACT). Juntament amb el grup e-MolMat, formem part del grup Nanomol del INSTITUT DE CIÈNCIA DE MATERIALS DE BARCELONA (ICMAB-CSIC), acreditat amb el segell TECNIO, que reconeix entitats amb una excel·lència en la #transferènciadetecnologia a #Catalunya. L'esdeveniment ha estat organitzat per l'Associació TECNIO, en col·laboració amb la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) i l' Ajuntament de Terrassa i amb el amb el suport d' ACCIÓ i la Generalitat de Catalunya. Durant el congrés, hem tingut l'oportunitat d'assistir a sessions molt enriquidores, com la ponència inspiracional de Josep A. Planell, que ens ha convidat a reflexionar sobre l'impacte de la ciència en la societat. També destaquem la primera taula rodona sobre #innovació i col·laboració dins l'ecosistema de transferència de coneixement i la segona taula rodona sobre l'experiència de portar productes del #laboratori al #mercat. A més de l'entrevista conduïda per la coorrdinadora de Nanomol-bio Nora Ventosa a Josep Lagares president executiu de METALQUIMIA, SAU, que ens ha inspirat a continuar treballant perquè la ciència sigui un motor d'innovació #empresarial. On November 21st, the Nanomol-bio group participated in the 3rd #TECNIO Congress held at LaFACT in Terrassa. Together with the e-MolMat group, we are part of the Nanomol group from the INSTITUT DE CIÈNCIA DE MATERIALS DE BARCELONA (ICMAB-CSIC), proudly accredited with the TECNIO seal, which recognises research entities with an excellence in #technologytransfer in #Catalonia. The event was organized by the l'Associació TECNIO, in collaboration with the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), and the Ajuntament de Terrassa, with the support of ACCIÓ and the Generalitat de Catalunya. The congress offered us the chance to attend inspiring sessions, such as the keynote speech by Josep A. Planell, which encouraged us to reflect on the impact of #science on society. We also want to highlight the first roundtable discussion on innovation and collaboration within the knowledge transfer ecosystem and the second roundtable about the experience of bringing products from the #laboratory to the #market. As well as the interview moderated by the Nanomol-bio coordinator Nora Ventosa to Josep Lagares executive president of METALQUIMIA, SAU, which inspired us to keep pushing for science-driven innovation in #business. We are proud to be part of the TECNIO community and contribute to advancing science-based #innovation!
