🌐 Latest Updates from Busan: INC-5 | #PlasticsTreaty 🌟 We are delighted to announce that MedWaves is in Busan to participate to the 5th session of the International Negotiating Committee to develop an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment.   This meeting marks the committee’s final gathering before the looming end-2024 deadline to develop a legally binding international instrument addressing plastic pollution. However, the most contentious issue continues to be the scope of the agreement, which revolves around defining the full lifecycle of plastic and whether it can include limits on production.     ℹ️ Stay tuned for more updates on our participation in the coming days. 🌎 DAY 2 - Arab SMEs Summit Doha - Rowad 2024 || This morning, we had the pleasure of participating in the side event “Unlocking the Potential of the Circular Economy for Arab Mediterranean SMEs” organised by Interreg NEXT MED Programme. Our colleague Giorgio Mosangini, Team Leader of the Green Entrepreneurship Area, highlighted key insights on opportunities for innovation and competitive advantages, as well as the challenges and strategies needed to implement circular practices. 🎯 Key Challenges for Eco-Innovation and Circular Economy Business Models: 👉 Limited access to funding. 👉 Restricted access to eco-innovative technology and skills. 👉 Green markets remain underdeveloped. 👉 Enabling policies are still nascent. 🚀 Emerging Opportunities: 👉 The rise of sustainable business models. 👉 Growing environmental awareness and emerging green markets, with new opportunities for export. 👉 Circular and eco-innovative business models increase resilience and reduce costs. 👉 Circular economy is becoming a political priority. 🌱 We were deeply inspired by the insights shared by four remarkable Switchers, who offered their perspectives on the key opportunities and challenges faced by MSMEs in the Arab Mediterranean context.
