🚨New Policy Brief Alert: Enhancing Resilience of Critical Infrastructures in Europe We are thrilled to announce the release of a collaborative policy paper from two Horizon Europe-funded projects, ATLANTIS - Horizon Europe Project and SUNRISE Project: "Enhancing Resilience of Critical Infrastructures in Europe: Insights and Recommendations." 🌍 Why It Matters: Critical Infrastructure (CI) is the backbone of Europe’s stability and prosperity, yet it faces unprecedented challenges such as pandemics, cyber threats, climate-induced disasters, and hybrid warfare. 🌟Webinar Recap: Fortifying the Future of Critical Infrastructure Protection On December 10, 2024, the ATLANTIS - Horizon Europe Project, EU-CIP Project, and #ECSCICluster hosted the webinar "Fortifying the Future: How EU R&D Projects Can Shape Standards and Policies in Critical Infrastructure Protection." SUNRISE Project was presented along with other Horizon funded projects: #InfraStress, R2D2 project, NEMECYS Horizon Europe Project. Our SUNRISE Project Coordinator Aljosa Pasic, from Eviden, shared key findings on: 🔹 Scenario-based planning to enhance preparedness with tools like Risk Assessment, What-If Analysis, and Cascading Effects Simulation. 🔹 Dynamic data integration to monitor risks during adverse events. Aljosa Pasic also mentioned the work of the SUNRISE Policy Task Force which aims to: • Develop practical definitions for managing critical infrastructure during temporary events. • Broaden the concept of resilience to include pre-emptive and concurrent measures. • Ensure interoperability of SUNRISE strategies with existing frameworks and agile approaches. 💡 This session underscored the importance of advancing policies and technologies to safeguard critical infrastructure in an evolving landscape. 🌟Slovenian National Consultation: "Implementation of the EU NIS 2 Directive Supported by Good Practices of EU Projects" Recap. On 5 December 2024, Institute for Corporative Security Studies (ICS) and the Slovenian Corporate Security Association hosted a high-profile national consultation at the House of the European Union. The event focused on the Implementation of the EU NIS 2 Directive and highlighted best practices from EU projects like SUNRISE Project, ATLANTIS - Horizon Europe Project, CEDAR EU, CyberSEAS Project, and ENDURANCE Project, in which the Institute for Corporate Security Studies actively participates. The consultation opened with inspiring addresses from: ✅ Dr. Denis Čaleta, President of the Slovenian Corporate Security Association ✅ Dr. Jelena Virant Burnik, Information Commissioner ✅ Mark Pohar, Deputy Director of AKOS ✅ Dr. Uroš Svete, Director of URSIV Key sessions provided actionable insights into: 🔹 Achieving compliance with the NIS 2 Directive. 🔹 Recommendations for Essential Service Providers to meet EU standards. 🔹 Cybersecurity practices observed during inspections. The event concluded with a thought-provoking roundtable discussion: "Experiences of Cooperation in EU Research Projects in Cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure: A Driver for Adapting to New Regulatory Changes." 🚨 New article 🚨 Excited to share a new publication by SUNRISE partners from Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER), XLAB, University of Warwick, and Eviden. The article, published in the Proceedings of the 19th FedCSIS Conference, presents a framework for Social Impact Assessment (SIA) of technological solutions, using the Remote Infrastructure Inspection (RII) Toolset as a case study. Key highlights: ✅ A participatory approach to define and validate social impact indicators. ✅ Insights into making infrastructure inspections more efficient and resilient. ✅ First steps toward measuring the broader social effects of innovative tools.
