Nicolas Ibieta Illanes Vision: Water at the Heart of Sustainable Development At the Global Avocado Summit 2024 in Chile, Senior Water Positive Think Tank Expert Nico Ibieta delivered a keynote speech that will resonate far beyond the avocado industry. Speaking to a captivated audience of worldwide avocado industry leaders, Nico outlined a transformative vision of a Water Positive future, connecting Azerbaijan's global sustainability agenda with the urgent need to prioritize water in agriculture, food, and industrial sustainability. With Chile's avocado industry as a case study, Nico highlighted the Chilean Avocado Committee's pioneering efforts—steered by Francisco Contardo-Sfeir as Executive Manager and a leading Water Positive Think Tank member—in achieving sustainable growth through water conservation. From innovative irrigation systems to policy integration, the Chilean industry has set a global benchmark for balancing economic development with environmental stewardship. Key takeaways from Nico's address included: Water-Positive Agriculture: -How efficient water use can secure food and industrial sustainability while mitigating climate risks and creating a new economic value opportunity for producers. Sustainability's Central Role in the SDGs: -Water isn't just a resource; it's the foundation of global security across agriculture, food systems, industries, and the 17 SDGs. Leadership in Action: -The Chilean avocado industry exemplifies how local innovation can inspire global change in agro-food sustainability and profitability at the same time. The Global Avocado Summit, organized by the Chilean Avocado Committee and Yentzen Group, was more than an event; it was a call to action. As we face growing climate pressures, Nico's message reminds us that water stewardship isn't optional—it's essential. Bravo to the Chilean Avocado Committee for hosting this incredible platform and to Nico Ibieta for bringing the world's focus to where it needs to be: water as the lifeblood of sustainable development. #GlobalAvocadoSummit #WaterPositive #Sustainability #Agriculture #COP29 #AgroFoodIndustry #WaterConservation #Innovation #Chile #FoodSecurity #latinAmerica #middleeast #spain

#waterpositive #sostenibilidad #agua

It's #WaterWednesday 💧, and it's time to reflect on our role in making the world Water Positive 🌍. Climate change is no longer a distant concept; it’s our reality . Just look at the recent DANA in Valencia 🌧️. The heavy rainfalls, devastating floods, and the chaos they bring are powerful reminders of what happens when we overlook the importance of sustainable water management. Every drop counts 💦—not just today, but every day. It’s time for institutions to act ⚙️ and for all of us to take responsibility. We need to work together, innovate 💡, and push forward solutions that protect our water resources for the future 🚰. Water scarcity 🚱 and extreme weather events are two sides of the same coin. Let’s make sure we’re doing everything we can to mitigate these challenges. This is everyone's job—governments 🏛️, industries 🏭, and each of us as individuals. We can't afford to wait. #ClimateAction #EveryDropCounts #SustainableWaterManagement #ClimateChange #WaterEngineering #WaterPositive
