How to Handle Price Objection in Footwear Sale? Price Objection: “These are too expensive.” How to Handle: Acknowledge the Concern: “I understand, budget is important, and it’s natural to want the best value for your money.” Shift the Focus to Value: Emphasize features that justify the cost, such as durability, comfort, or brand reputation. “These shoes use premium materials, like full-grain leather, which not only last longer but also mold to your feet over time for a perfect fit.” Cost-Per-Wear Argument: Break down the price in terms of longevity and frequency of use. “If you wear these shoes three times a week for a year, it comes down to less than a dollar per wear, and they’ll likely last much longer.” Offer Financing or Incentives: If your store offers payment plans or promotions, mention them. “We offer a loyalty program that gives you points toward future purchases.” Comparison with Alternatives: If necessary, guide them to a more affordable option without compromising quality. “If these are above your budget, let me show you a similar style that’s still high quality but at a lower price point.” Also mention any warranties, return policies, or care tips that add value to the purchase.

Earlier this week, EURATEX and other members of the Technical Secretariat of the #PEFCRs for #apparel and footwear gathered in Madrid for two days of intense technical discussions on the methodology. The PEF Days focused on the feedback from the second public consultation on the PEFCRs, which ran between March and April and collected more than 5000 comments. The meeting also discussed #microfibers (including #microplastics) assessment, and progress on important workstreams relating to #supplier #data collection and EF database. EURATEX looks forward to further developing the PEFCRs, towards their adoption by the European Commission foreseen in Q1 2025. The next steps are increasing #awareness and #engagement by companies.

Nike vs. adidas: The Global Price Battle On a global scale, Nike consistently commands a higher original price point than adidas. In a study of 32 international markets, Nike's men's sneakers are priced higher in 87% of them, with the average pair costing around 133 EUR, compared to adidas's more moderate 120 EUR. Switzerland stands out as the most expensive market for both brands. Here, Nike's average price reaches 170 EUR, making it 10% more expensive than the average adidas shoe in the country. Brazil follows closely, particularly for Nike, where a pair of its sneakers costs approximately 160 EUR. The pricing gap in Brazil is particularly striking, with Nike's shoes priced 34% higher than adidas’s, which adheres to its global average of 120 EUR. India reveals the largest disparity between the two brands. In this market, Nike's footwear is priced 58% higher than Adidas. This is largely due to adidas’s strategic pricing in India, where its shoes average just 73 EUR, well below the brand's global norm. Canada offers a unique case where Nike and adidas are nearly on par, with their men's footwear prices almost identical—a rare occurrence in an otherwise fiercely competitive global landscape. Unsurprisingly, Nike's home market, the US, is one of only two markets where adidas shoes are more expensive than Nike. However, the difference is a marginal 2%. The other is Hong Kong, where adidas out-prices Nike by 4%. Conversely, in adidas's home country of Germany, Nike maintains a 7% price premium, underscoring its competitive strategy even in a traditionally strong adidas market.
