A GIIG Foundation initiative powered by one of our GIIG Africa Fund 1 portfolio companies, Kubik, Inc. this will be the first learning center for the children of Harar, Ethiopia—built entirely from plastic waste. A place where young minds will dream, learn, and innovate their way to a better future. This milestone moment is a testament to the power of innovation, impact investing, and community-driven change. Big thanks to Kidus Asfaw, Mugo Design and Build, the government and community of Harar, Egziael Buzuayehu, East African Holding and our generous donors for making this possible. Access to clean water is an existential problem for many. Including for millions in Ethiopia. Our collaboration with Rateneh Fassil and the Sinopia team, Kubik, Inc. is providing a safe and sustainable place for rural communities to access solar-powered water dispensers. Each water access point has: ♻️ recycled 1,100 kg of plastic waste 👸🏾 poised 111 women with a dignified job as waste suppliers 🌱 avoided 180+ kg of greenhouse gas emissions This is what #BuildingWithKubik looks like.
