🌟 What an incredible week at the SLUSH Startup Conference in Helsinki 🌟 I'm still energized by the inspiration and the unique SLUSH Magic - that mix of curiosity, open-mindedness, and a shared commitment to creating meaningful change. 💡 My personal highlights: 🔍 I had the opportunity to moderate a lively roundtable discussion on the success factors for collaboration between startups and corporates. 🤝 Huge thanks to everyone who joined and contributed! Especially to Fabian Bosch and Robert Hein for the great support! 🇫🇮 The President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, sent a clear signal about the importance of startups by opening the conference with an inspiring speech. 👏 He emphasized three core values that all startup founders should consider: Empathy 💗, Doing Good for Humanity 🌍, and Keeping humans in the driver's seat when it comes to AI. 🤖 💡 Over the course of just two days, Fabian Bosch and I connected with more than 30 startup founders and were blown away by the breadth of technologies we saw. On the BMW Startup Garage side event, 12 startups pitched their innovative solutions - many thanks to Daniel Westling, Jaakko Kaikuluoma, David Aronchick, Julian Ernst, Björn Lindblom, Faheem Zunjani, Mario Henrique Cruz Torres, Mark Weston, Dr.-Ing. Roland Boumann, Çağrı Selçuklu and Oleksandr Zadorozhnyi 👏!! I can't wait to introduce these amazing startups to our business units at BMW. 🚗 Here's to turning ideas into action and building impactful partnerships. 🤝 🗣️ Another standout moment was the panel I had the pleasure of sharing with Lars Biermeyer, moderated by Carolin Lutzenberger 🙌. We discussed the unique challenges of scaling startup solutions in the automotive industry and shared our experiences with a fantastic audience. 👥 🤝 I also exchanged best practices with various Venture Client Units, attended exciting side events by 48forward and HYUNDAI CRADLE, and reconnected with many familiar faces from the innovation ecosystem. Over the last decade, Industry 4.0 promised to bring data-driven insights to the manufacturing sector, reducing inefficiency, supply hold-ups and logistical bottlenecks, deploying predictive maintenance to reduce machinery downtime, overall saving time and money. However, factory digitisation presents many challenges that hinder its seamless implementation. Integrating diverse systems, devices, and technologies, especially bridging the gap between IT and OT systems, poses significant complexity. Substantial initial investments and the difficulty in justifying costs and demonstrating ROI have further complicated the adoption process. The process is still relatively nascent, with 64 per cent of manufacturers still in the first stages of digital transformation. In response, Finnish startup CloEE | Berkeley SKYDECK'24 is an AI digital advisor for discrete manufacturing that boosts sustainability, improves overall equipment efficiency (OEE), and drives annual revenue growth of up to $1 million.
