Finnish expertise is helping to generate some exciting progress in maritime connectivity. VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, alongside partners, has successfully trialed a multi-hop 5G solution near Turku, Finland, extending high-speed, low-latency 5G coverage up to 10 kilometres offshore. Celebrating Innovation and Impact. Cumucore, one of the incredible startups from our Batch 8 cohort, has been honored with the 2024 TeckNexus "Private Network Excellence in Public Safety" award. In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Cumucore partnered with Ripsim, Mosolabs, and Starlink to deploy a rapid, scalable private mobile network in Western North Carolina. Their innovative solution restored critical connectivity for first responders and affected communities, enabling faster disaster response and essential communication during recovery efforts. 5G connectivity at sea? 🚢 Imagine seamless 5G connectivity across the vast expanse of open waters. 🌊 This vision is becoming a reality, thanks to an EU-funded 5G-ROUTES project led by VTT and with involved partners, such as Vediafi Oy, Cumucore and Airbus Defence and Space, Ericsson, Nokia, Digita Oy, DNA Oyj, Telia and Goodmill Systems Ltd. 🤝 In the project, a multi-hop 5G solution was successfully trialed off the coast of Turku, Finland, extending 5G coverage up to 10 kilometers offshore! 📡 This innovation unlocks new possibilities for maritime communication, safety, and passenger experiences. A big thank to you Morten Brandstrup from TV 2 Danmark who once again made magic with our Haivision equipment! "We had a great success in Herning. This remote production from Herning congress center was centered on a 4 camera setup - our “press meeting” kit - to cover the speaker. In the hallway there was a studio position with 3 camera+#PRO460, connected on a private #5G SA NPN (Cumucore, one radio) and work perfect including tally and video return (webRCT for latency)." 

2024 has been an incredibly busy and rewarding year for us at Cumucore. We're excited to share the results of a successful multihop trial conducted in late October in Turku, Finland.
