Anssi Mikola is the founder of RiverRecycle, a Finnish startup that developed a novel method for collecting and repurposing plastic waste from rivers.   The company uses floating barriers and other equipment that direct debris to collection points without disrupting marine life or river traffic.   RiverRecycle has collected over four million kilos of waste from waterways around the world, converting it into building boards of various sizes. KONE is elevating the skyline in Cambodia. The Finnish company has been selected to provide elevators, escalators and E-Link monitoring for the Peninsula Integrated Resort in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, set for completion by 2026. The mixed-use development will feature a five-star hotel, retail, dining, cultural, and office spaces. Construction begins in Q1 2025. Niilo Hendolin works in research and development at Elstor Oy, a company based in the city of Lappeenranta trying to stop climate change with its high temperature thermal energy storage. This storage provides its customers with clean, emission-free steam for their industrial processes, with a lower cost than fossil fuels. This is particularly effective in Finland, where the cost of fossil fuels is quite high, but the electricity price is quite low, especially during the lowest cost hours of each day.
