Startup Services & Investor/Corporate Relations at Platform6, PhD Candidate in Journalism, Tampere Talent Ambassador

TOMORROW, we’ve got some serious startup-investor action lined up in Tampere at Platform6 Startup House. Oh, there’s a very special guest making his first-ever trip to Tampere. And he’s super... No, seriously — Superangel.io is in the house!! We’ve lined up some incredible roundtable discussions, each diving into key topics for the future of Tampere’s startup scene: 💡 Roundtable 1: Building startup culture in Tampere: What does it take? Leads: Sointu Karjalainen (FOV Ventures) & Ilmo Lounasmaa (serial entrepreneur and investor). Tampere has the brains and resources, but what’s missing to build a real startup community? This discussion dives into connecting founders, universities, industries, and investors. How do we create a space where ideas thrive and risks are worth taking? 💰 Roundtable 2: Shaping the future of investment in Tampere: What kind of fund do we need? Lead: Pertti Aimonen (serial entrepreneur and investor) Does Tampere need its own fund? Should it follow models like byFounders , Specialist VC or node.vc? Or do we focus on pulling existing players closer to the action? Let’s figure out what it takes to give local startups a real shot at growth. 🌱 Roundtable 3: Spotting potential in early-stage founders: What support do they really need? Lead: Jaan Kokk (Superangel.io) How do you spot a founder with real potential? And more importantly, how do you give them the tools to make it? This session will focus on practical ways to help early-stage founders succeed—from mentorship to resources to networks. Who’s in? An incredible group of investors and ecosystem operators. If we are missing someone, send me a DM - we have a few free spots available! Thank you for joining, Ilkka Sillanpää, Ossi Numminen, Jonas Lundberg (Liquido.vc), Marko Kotonen (Business Finland), Tuomas Pahlman, Tiina Laisi-Puheloinen (Finnish Business Angels Network (FiBAN)) and many others. What’s next? Discussions, big ideas, actionable plans — and maybe a few aha moments about what’s next for Tampere’s startup ecosystem. Startup.Tampere, let’s make it happen. 🚀 P.S. Startups, there is still an opportunity to join Hangout with investors at 16:00 tomorrow (link in the 1st comment).

  • Need a production-ready AI solution but all you’ve got is a bunch of Jupyter Notebooks? 📓➡️🚀 At Softlandia, we go beyond experimentation. As an Applied AI powerhouse, we deliver real-world AI-native software: solutions that are scalable, reliable, and ready to integrate into your business. 💡✨ Stop settling for "it works on my machine". Let's build something that works in the real world. 💻🌍

Dear data scientists, we love your notebooks, but… Can we talk about the huge bridge between experimentation and production? As much as Jupyter Notebooks are an incredible tool for exploring ideas and proving concepts, they _never_ translate directly into production-ready AI solutions. Without clean code and integration with the rest of the stack the rest of the team is working with, your amazing insights often stay trapped in a proof-of-concept purgatory. Let's turn those butterflies into real-world solutions. 🦋➡️🛠️

  • There are plenty of different RAG architectures! Do you know what to use and when?

The current state of the RAG ecosystem and my bold predictions for 2025. 1. Vanilla RAG aka naive RAG The "original" RAG architecture gained popularity in 2022. It indexes static chunks of text data into a vector database, and the top n results from a text similarity search are injected into the final prompt. 2. Advanced RAG Better indexing and search strategies emerged in 2023 and the Advanced RAG was born. Techniques like semantic chunking and dynamic chunking replaced static chunking and search accuracy was further improved via reranking. 3. Advanced Agentic RAG In 2024, agents are everywhere and you can't build a RAG without them. Agentic patterns enabled RAGs to access services, databases, and APIs. Agents select the retrieval sources and combine the results into the final answer. 4. Advanced Agentic Vision RAG In the second half of 2024, vision-based retrieval with specialized models such as ColPali emerged. Multimodal vision RAGs understand text, images, tables, graphs, and other visual elements and could replace chunking completely in most RAG implementations. 2025 will be the year of multimodality and vision models.

  • Silicon Valley is shaping the future of AI, and our CMO, Jaakko Timonen, spent the last three weeks exploring the latest trends and insights across the U.S. Here’s what we’ve learned so far: 1. The AI Market is Full of Potential — But the Real Impact is Yet to Come. Right now, AI is in a testing phase with only a few solutions in full-scale production. As Tero Ojanperä from Silo AI recently said, the transformation will be both gradual and profound, with the most significant changes still ahead. 2. Action Over Analysis. In the fast-paced world of AI, extensive planning isn’t always feasible. Even in Silicon Valley, there’s no perfect formula for predicting outcomes or crafting foolproof strategies. The timeline from development to market and even exit is accelerating — think what can you deliver now, tomorrow, not years and decades. The key? Start executing, adapt as you go, and learn quickly. Example: spogen.ai from idea to MVP in few months. 3. AI- and Digital-Native Solutions Hold Tremendous Opportunity. There’s an immense market and financial backing available for innovative AI solutions. But success hinges on more than just speed; quality matters. Factors like user experience, security, privacy, and compliance are essential. How to build quality AI solutions? Check our blogs https://lnkd.in/dMMeAi86 The landscape is evolving faster than ever, and there’s no better time to be part of it. #AI #Innovation #SiliconValley #DigitalTransformation #TechIndustry

Applied AI for your KPI // Chief Customer Officer @ Softlandia // Definitely NOT looking to buy any outsourcing services

🇺🇸 After spending almost 3 weeks in the US—visiting Austin, the Bay Area, and attending the GenAI Summit—to get a sense of where the AI world is headed, here are my key findings. MARKET OVERVIEW People seem to divide businesses in three categories 1. AI Native companies 2. Digital Native companies 3. Enterprise There is overlap between 2 and 3 because we do have digital native enterprises but you get the point. AI Adoption is still in its very early days. • Nov 30 2024 marks the the 2nd anniversary of ChatGPT • 2023 was supposed to be the year of prototyping • 2024 was supposed to be the year of production → Now the question is if 2025 is going to be the year of production? STARTUPS AND VENTURE CAPITAL AI Native Companies all seem to be in the Bay Area but their customers are not necessarily there. And if they are, the competition is fierce. AI deals dominate venture capital, followed by • Fintech • Retail Tech • Digital Health VCs seem to be excited about AI Native Companies because • Time-to-ship is approaching zero (!) • Time-to-AI-exit is shrinking fast • AI disrupts the value capture: seed + pre-seed dominate value Model scaling in generative AI is incredibly expensive (think GPT-4 ➜ GPT-5) but the smaller, purpose-optimized models create are less capital intensive, offering faster routes to profitability. GENERAL FEELING Nobody understands shit. 😅 Many people actually said that. Things are moving forward at so overwhelmingly fast pace and new things and new positions keep popping up every week, making it almost impossible to keep up. The low hanging fruit seems to be content creation and automating customer service. TOP CONCERNS • Security • Compliance • Privacy Nothing new here. However, there is an influx of startups and new technologies to fix these issues. The early adopters are already building safe and compliant solutions. If you decide to wait, you will be left behind. If you have any questions, post a comment or DM me if you have a specific problem you'd like to tackle in private, happy to share what I learned. I met way too many people and startups to list them all in a post like this. P.S. Test-driving Tesla Cybertruck was cool!
