🌍Together, we are pioneering circularity🌍 We are proud to announce that the acquisition of Fortum Recycling & Waste by Summa Equity, combining it with NG Group, has been completed. We’re creating a Nordic leader in circular solutions and environmental services. By joining forces, we will handle over 4.4 million tons of waste annually through 90 facilities and sites, have a combined revenue of EUR 1.2 billion and 3.500 colleagues across Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Poland, and the UK. Through reuse, collection, recycling and depollution, we help decarbonize society via scaling access to circular raw materials. Partnering with customers and partners of all sizes, we provide solutions across the entire value chain, adding value at every step. Thank you to everyone — our employees, customers, owners and partners! We look forward to continuing this journey together. The first load of aluminium has been dispatched following the autumn test runs of our new metal refinery plant in Norrsundet, Gävle. 🥳🎉 We are extremely proud to announce that we have sold our first batch of completely pure aluminium to aluminium smelters. After extensive adjustments, test runs and hundreds of analyses, we have ensured the quality. The melt analyses from the smelter show that we delivered an excellent quality! 👌♻️ A big thank you to our outstanding team on site in Norrsundet; Rickard, Marcus, Molly, Anders, and Moa! ✨ We are excited to introduce INGA, the plastics born from CO2. ✨ 🎉 Last month we announced that, as a result of our Carbon2x programme, we had succesfully produced the first sample of the world’s first biodegradable plastic born entirely from CO₂. 🥁 Now we are taking the next step and unveiling the brand for the next generation of sustainable plastics: INGA - plastics born from CO2. “INGA means nothing or none in Swedish. The name refers to the fact that nothing new needs to be used to make the plastic. INGA plastics is aimed at environmentally conscious forerunners – companies, who want to make an impact but are not willing to compromise on the quality or aesthetics of the products they produce,” explains Tony Rehn, Carbon2X Programme Director, Fortum Recycling & Waste about the essence of the new brand. 📍 INGA plastics will be showcased at the Sustainable Materials Conference & Expo / Greener Manufacturing Conference & Expo, in Cologne, Germany, on 13–14 November. Come and join us there, or visit ingaplastics.com! 👋 Read more: https://lnkd.in/dihrBZSp

Despite the EU tightens its focus on sustainability, brand owners will play a crucial role in shaping a truly circular and profitable economy for plastics. Upcoming regulations, including Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) complemented with the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), aim to make all plastic packaging recyclable by 2030, with ambitious recycling rates set as soon as 2025. ♻️ For brand owners, this means an increasing responsibility to prioritize recyclability, durability, and repairability from the ground up. Regulations are setting the stage, but it's up to brand owners to lead with proactive solutions that ensure safe, sustainable materials and products that are viable in the marketplace”, writes Mikko Koivuniemi in his latest blog. Let’s lead the way with products that balance innovation, sustainability, circularity and profitability together! 🤝💡 #Ecodesign #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #PlasticsPackaging #RightToRepair #BrandResponsibility

We have some exciting news to share! 🙌 We've been able to produce world’s first biodegradable plastic from CO2 emissions from waste incineration at our plant in Riihimäki, Finland! This is a remarkable milestone in our Carbon2x program and in our mission to rethink recycling and lead the way towards revolution of materials. “Captured carbon dioxide should be utilized as a new raw material instead of storing it underground or releasing it into the atmosphere when using fuel. Utilizing captured CO2 is a much more sustainable option in terms of tackling resource scarcity in the future. Whereas carbon capture and storage is a linear solution that does not address the growing material shortage, carbon capture and utilization promotes circular economy," says Tony Rehn, Head of the Carbon2x program. ❔ Did you know that Serto detergent bottles are now made from Fortum Circo® recycled plastic? ♻ ✔ Plastic packaging will be subject to a recycled content obligation, which means that by 2030 all non-food contact packaging must contain at least 35% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic - meaning plastic, that has been recycled from consumer plastic waste. Kiilto is leading the way on this, as Serto bottles are already made entirely from Circo recycled plastic. By switching the material from virgin plastic to Circo, Kiilto has reduced the use of virgin plastic by 30 tonnes and reduced its carbon footprint as the #carbonfootprint of Circo is less than half of that of virgin plastic. 🤝 Making #plasticrecycling a reality requires cooperation along the entire value chain and we are happy to walk the talk with Kiilto on Serto bottles! #rethinkingrecycling #recycledplastics #collaboration
We've redesigned the #packaging for our Serto detergent, replacing virgin high-density polyethylene (HDPE) with Fortum Circo® recycled plastic. ♻️ Made from post-consumer plastic packaging collected in Finland, this switch has already made a significant impact, 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐛𝐲 𝟑𝟎 𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐬! 📉 What makes Fortum Circo® especially appealing is its #carbonfootprint —less than half that of virgin plastic. 🌍 To better understand consumer preferences, we conducted a survey with nearly 600 respondents, and the results were encouraging: → 38% consider sustainability a key factor when purchasing laundry detergents → 75% prefer recycled plastic packaging for liquid laundry detergent "Consumers find [recycled plastic packaging] an easy and effortless way to make more sustainable choices," says Kaisa Tuppura, our Head of Marketing for Consumer Goods, who led this project. At Kiilto, this initiative is part of 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 goal to have 70% of our packaging reused, renewable, or recycled by 2025. 🎯 Our partnership with Fortum has been crucial in achieving this, and we are grateful to their team, especially Anniina Rasmus, for making it all possible.
