The 21st annual Budapest event on broadcasting and digital licensing challenges for CEE societies saw record attendance this year. This year's focus was on VOD licensing and societies' strategies on increasing income through efficient licensing schemes in small and mid-size markets. A training event for developing and prospective AV members was also held in cooperation with SACD and ZAPA.
Last week we had our 21st Budapest annual event for CEE societies: on broadcasting and digital licensing challenges, with a record attendance of some 90 participants (and guests from PRS, TONO, AKM). This year the hot topic was VOD licensing and societies’ strategies on how to increase income by providing efficient licensing schemes in small and mid-size markets. While for the music societies the preservation of the blanket licensing remains a key precondition for success, the unwaivable right of remuneration for AV creators (even if provided in national legislation) is still a challenge to implement in practice. In cooperation with SACD and ZAPA, we also hosted a parallel training event targeting developing AV members and prospective AV members. The CISAC/BIEM European regional office appreciates very much the interest and participation of the societies from the region and remains committed to assist their different needs in 2025!
