Over the next five years, 30 million people are expected to be impacted by the power of SureChill refrigeration through innovations and new commercial models such as "Cooling as a Service" and "Energy as a Service". 💫 Gaia Impact team was present in Nairobi last week to attend the bi-annual Global Off-Grid Solar Forum and Expo which gathers energy access stakeholders around the sector's most critical questions and warmly welcomes new initiatives, programmes and ideas.   🌍 A small but exciting change in logistics this year: part of the team was already working from Nairobi in its brand-new office including Hélène Demaegdt, Founder and President of Gaia! As you may know, two members (and counting) of Gaia Impact are now here full time to meet partners and visit innovative and impactful projects in Kenya and the region while supporting our investees on the ground.   ✨ Last week was also the perfect occasion for co-hosting our first ever Gaia-cobranded networking event in Nairobi! Together with our co-hosts EDFI Management Company and Triple Jump we were delighted to meet up with entrepreneurs, equity & debt investors, and enablers that have been working with us for years in helping the #energyaccess sector grow and make a difference on the ground.   🤝 Thank you very much EDFI and Triple Jump for your help co-organizing this successful evening, and thanks everyone for coming and contributing to this burst of shared energy! This report highlights the initial impact results of our new fund, GEIF II, and explores emerging opportunities in impact investing within the access to energy sector. Throughout the next month, we will be sharing key insights from the report. https://lnkd.in/eADdT8-8 📢 Key Message Number 3 Off-grid technologies are key to expanding access to electricity for all, offering proven social, economic, and environmental benefits. In many contexts, they represent the fastest and most cost-effective path to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 7. This report highlights the initial impact results of our new fund, GEIF II, and explores emerging opportunities in impact investing within the access to energy sector. Throughout the next month, we will be sharing key insights from the report. 📢 Key Message Number 2 It’s crucial to rigorously measure impact to differentiate true impact investors from “greenwashing” initiatives. To fulfill its mission, GEIF II—an Article 9 fund under the European SFDR regulation—has established an Impact Committee composed of external experts, including entrepreneurs, researchers, and industry specialists. This committee assesses and validates our impact indicator methodology, as well as the achievement of each of the fund’s goals (5 KPIs per portfolio company).

For every 100€ we invest, we aim to improve energy access to 7 people and avoid 7 tons of CO2, as well as to generate high quality local employement.
