The European Union aims at decarbonizing the #aviation industry with its Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) mandate, officially known as ReFuelEU Aviation, that introduces a phased approach to incorporating SAF into aviation fuel in EU airports. ✈️ Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is typically made from renewable and waste-based sources, and not derived from fossil fuels like conventional jet fuels. SAF can also be synthetically produced by for example capturing carbon directly from the air. As this regulation will impact the #supplychain through adjustments in costs and operational practices, GEODIS is implementing changes to meet this ambition while continuing to offer additional services to further reduce emissions: ▶️ Starting this year, GEODIS will include a 2% SAF blend in its emission reporting for Europe outbound air freight operations. ▶️ GEODIS' SAF book-and-claim service allows the industry to further reduce the carbon footprint beyond the EU SAF mandate.
