The International Council of Museums (ICOM) is a non-governmental organization of museum professionals with the aim of exchanging scientific information at international level, developing professional standards, adopting rules and recommendations, and implementing collaborative projects. Founded in 1946, ICOM has some 30,000 members from 137 countries, including 117 national committees and 31 international committees. Each International Committee is dedicated to the study of a particular type of museum or museum discipline. One such international committee is CECA, the Committee for Education and Cultural Action. With more than 1,500 members from around 85 countries, CECA is also one of the largest committees within ICOM. Its members are professionals working in various sectors of the museum field or in institutions related to this field who are interested in research and practice in the field of (museum) education, public support and participation.

Annual Conference Day 4: Educational visits Very lucky to share those amazing visits. 🏛 Acropolis Museum: During the workshop, participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the educational resources of the Department, available in both Greek and English. These resources include books, trails, museum kits, family backpacks, films, and digital applications, all designed to broaden the Department’s outreach activities and engage a larger audience than one might reach in person. Benaki Museum: Α tour into the delightful world of taste focused on the origins of the Mediterranean Diet in Greece. Utensils and hands-on vessels dated to as early as the Bronze Age till the first Byzantine Centuries bear witness to nutritional values which are more and more considered beneficial for physical and mental health. Industrial gaz Museum: Following the immersive experience, participants gathered for a relaxed coffee discussion, reflecting on their findings and exploring insights into site-specific, experiential learning within the authentic industrial surroundings. This workshop combined historical intrigue, teamwork, and creative problem-solving in a space where history comes to life. Maria Callas Museum: This programme included a detailed guided tour, followed by an experiential workshop where conference participants were divided into groups to engage with the myth surrounding the name of the great diva, investigating and analyzing the concept of an idol and other challenges using the journalistic material in the Museum's collection. Ancient Agora of Athens: a tour of the Ancient Agora and its museum on the occasion of the educational programme "Th-ink: Graffiti as historical testimony and as damage to the ancient monuments, of the Ephorate of Antiquities of the city of Athens ». And also, visits at the National Bank of Greece (Historical Archive) and at the Epigraphic Museum.
