🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 During two exciting days, the Pioniq Technologies team attended the second edition of the Alain Aspect Symposium with a focus on Climate & Quantum hosted by iXcampus in Saint-Germain-en-Laye and co-organized by Quantonation. After an inspiring introductory discussion between Etienne KLEIN, Alain Aspect and Tim Palmer, our CEO 🌟, Brigitte Leridon has developed her vision and presented how emerging materials and quantum simulations could benefit to the energy storage sector🔋. She shared with the audience a concrete example of a solid state electrolyte developed by Pioniq Technologies and showed how concomitant material/device characterizations and simulations were helping us to push the state-of-the-art to build our products. 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀 At Pioniq Technologies, we are very proud of developing energy materials and safe energy storage devices free of any critical elements and helping for a sustainable energy transition. Pioniq is a deeeptech start-up emerging from the historical “ESPCI” school in Paris known for having graduated famous French researchers like Paul Langevin and Frédéric Joliot-Curie and hosted no less than 6 Nobel prizes. Following a long-standing tradition in the discovery of innovative materials, the Pioniq team aims at developing and selling disruptive energy storage solutions based on quantum materials. At Pioniq we are convinced that energy storage technologies need not only to be efficient but also perfectly in line with the greatest human challenge of all-time concerning Earth climate and must respond to sustainability and recyclability criteria. After years of fundamental research in quantum solids, the team is proud to present a new class of Li-free, Co-free, Ni-free solid-state energy storage devices powered by quantum matter phase transitions. The Pioniq solution departs from existing technologies for energy storage as it is composed of abundant, recyclable and price-stable elements based on solids derived from the well-known perovskite family.

I am often asked : “ What are quantum materials, since after all, everything isn't quantum ?” , so I decided to post an explanation. Indeed every object is quantum at the nanoscopic scale, meaning it has to be described by the formalism of quantum mechanics. By contrast, a quantum material is a material for which properties have to be described by quantum formalism even at macroscopic scale. Let me precise… 🎯 P.W. Anderson – 1977 Physics Nobel Prize 🥇, has beautifully expressed the concept of "emergence" in his seminal article “More is different” (https://lnkd.in/epVUi_jS). In a N-particle system under certain experimental conditions (temperature, pressure,…), unexpected properties may emerge at the macroscopic scale that do not exist and cannot be trivially inferred from a simple 1-particle description. With #quantuminside for large-scale applications, Pioniq Technologies' products will impact citizens worldwide in their everyday life, here in the field of #energystorage for #IoT and ultimately #ElectricMobility There is a huge community of academics worldwide working in the field of #quantummaterials, materials that exhibit remarkable macroscopic properties resulting from quantum correlations at the microscopic level. These properties can’t be described by classical or simple semi-classical approaches and require a dedicated treatment of quantum mechanical effects, making them challenging to explore numerically. However, recent developments in the field of many-body dynamics simulation, especially those leveraging #GPUs and #QPUs, combined with #AI, show great prospects for computational design of innovative materials. In combination with new synthesis pathways we will witness over the next decades real-life applications of these classes of materials. Quantonation is proud to announce an investment in Pioniq Technologies! We have worked together with the founding team for the last 18 months to help them spin-off from their ESPCI lab and start Pioniq! Pioniq emerged from Brigitte Leridon’s decade-long research into quantum materials, focusing on developing safe and sustainable solid-state batteries, based on a new material, discovered by Pioniq, made of titanium, oxygen, and potassium, showcasing significant potential for energy storage applications. These innovative batteries are free from lithium, cobalt, and nickel, making them environmentally friendly alternatives. Utilizing ab initio calculations, Pioniq will explore the microscopic mechanisms of quantum materials, seamlessly integrating theoretical simulations, material characterization, and device testing. The future of solid-state batteries looks promising with Pioniq’s innovative solutions. These batteries promise greater reliability, solidity, and enhanced energy and power densities. They aim at commercializing the first micro-batteries within five years, with plans to expand to bulk all-solid batteries subsequently. The goal is to offer alternative energy storage solutions made from non-toxic, abundant, and recyclable elements, paving the way for a sustainable future in energy technology ! Pioniq was spun-off ESPCI Paris, one of the most renowned physics institutions worldwide.
