Microplastics are everywhere! That's why we need global teamwork 🙏 Microplastics research is still an emerging field, and we need to come together to find the right methods and solutions. 👋 At NIVA, we were honored to host a delegation from India, here to learn how we detect and analyze microplastics in the Norwegian environment — from sampling in the Alna River to precision work in our labs. This exchange was part of the India-Norway cooperation project on capacity building to reduce plastic and chemical pollution in India (INOPOL), a long-standing partnership. #NBIC: L'imagination infinie et humaniste de l'être humain permet aujourd'hui de concevoir des solutions innovantes pour protéger l'environnement 🌍. Des chercheurs du MIT ont développé un matériau de filtration à base de soie naturelle et de cellulose qui pourrait révolutionner le traitement de l'eau. Ce nouveau matériau est capable d'éliminer des contaminants persistants, comme les « produits chimiques éternels » (les PFAS), ainsi que les métaux lourds, tous deux présents dans notre eau potable 🚰. Ces PFAS, utilisés dans de nombreux produits du quotidien (cosmétiques, emballages alimentaires, vêtements), représentent un danger pour la santé et l'environnement. Les méthodes actuelles de purification de l'eau sont coûteuses et peu efficaces. Mais ce nouveau filtre, entièrement naturel 🌱, pourrait changer la donne en étant non seulement performant mais aussi plus respectueux de l'environnement. Le processus repose sur l'association de protéines de soie et de cellulose. Ensemble, ces matériaux forment une membrane capable de capter les contaminants, tout en ayant des propriétés antimicrobiennes qui évitent l'encrassement par des bactéries et des champignons 🦠. Cela en fait un système durable et efficace pour filtrer l'eau. Ce matériau pourrait, dans un premier temps, être utilisé dans des filtres domestiques installés sur les robinets 🏠, puis, à terme, servir à purifier l'eau à grande échelle, notamment pour les réseaux d'approvisionnement municipaux. Les avantages pour le futur sont nombreux : une eau plus propre, moins de produits chimiques dans notre environnement, et une solution plus économique et écologique 💧✨. Si ce projet se développe à plus grande échelle, il pourrait avoir un impact positif majeur sur la santé publique et la préservation de notre planète. https://lnkd.in/eDBqzPK5
