A great opportunity to be a speaker / delegate at the Africa Heads of State Energy Summit in Dar es Salaam-Tanzania from 27-28 January 2025, where bold steps were taken toward achieving #Mission300—expanding electricity access to 300 million people in Africa by 2030. It was an honor to join African heads of state, CSOs, private sector leaders, and young innovators. I highlighted how our work at AkoFresh ™️ is bridging the energy poverty gap in rural farming communities by leveraging solar powered cooling solutions to improve post harvest management and food security. I also called on leaders to include young organizations and youth led initiatives in the execution of #mission300 projects. Grateful to the The World Bank Group and African Development Bank Group for the invitation to contribute to this historic dialogue! Key outcomes from the summit include: ✅ The Dar es Salaam Energy Declaration – A commitment by African governments to reform the energy sector. ✅ National Energy Compacts – Twelve countries unveiled strategic plans to boost electricity access. ✅ Financial Commitments – Over $40 billion pledged by the World Bank, African Development Bank, and over $18 billion pledged by multilateral institutions, including and OPEC Fund, to drive Africa’s electrification. Africa’s energy future is bright, but now, we must turn commitments into action.
