What Nokia needs is less Symbian, and more innovative phones like they were wheeling out a couple of years ago with their N-series line. Merely whacking a 1GHz Snapdragon chip in won’t help pick them up off the floor, however great they’re doing financially.

I mention this because Nokia’s CEO Olli-Pekka Kalasvuo has told BusinessWeek that “Qualcomm definitely is a potential partner going forward. The companies did fight a long time in court, and now we see them as a potential partner.”
I hope for our sake this potential partnership with Qualcomm comes in the form of a blazing-fast Maemo or MeeGo phone (their new venture with Intel), rather than some bog-standard N97 clone that turns out to be another “tremendous disappointment.” [BusinessWeek via Electricpig]
