Silo Was Just Renewed for Two Final Seasons

The Apple TV+ show starring Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Robbins and Common is now in the middle of season two.

Silo is going to end on its own terms, and it’ll have two more seasons to do it. The hit sci-fi adaptation is currently in its second season on Apple TV+ and the streamer just announced its greenlit a third and fourth season of the show, which will bring the story to a close.

“It has been a richly rewarding experience to adapt Hugh [Howey’s] epic novels with our partners at Apple and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring this complete story to the screen over the course of four seasons,” showrunner and executive producer Graham Yost said in a press release. “With the final two chapters of Silo, we can’t wait to give fans of the show an incredibly satisfying conclusion to the many mysteries and unanswered questions contained within the walls of these silos.”

From its first season, Silo was already breaking the structure of the original books. Season one was just the first half of book one and season two is now the second half. Book two is then a prequel which only has the main character, played by Rebecca Ferguson, in the final page. Yost told io9 a few months back they had a plan for all of this and now see it unfolding.

“If we get to do more than two seasons, we’ll be telling that part of the story [the prequel in book two] differently,” Yost told io9. “But I can also say that we have a plan. I can’t say what the plan is, but we do have a plan. Hopefully, we get to do the whole thing.” Now he will.”

“The addictive, inventive and moving Silo has had us hooked since day one and we’ve loved watching global audiences become equally enamored with the world that Graham Yost has created,” Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, said. “As we look to seasons three and four of this ambitious, character-driven sci-fi series — which will conclude Juliette Nichols’ journey and complete Hugh Howey’s epic trilogy of novels. We can’t wait for everyone to experience more of the show’s powerful performances led by the incomparable Rebecca Ferguson, as well as the unexpected twists, turns, and surprises that we’ve come to expect from this very human story.”

Ferguson is, of course, also on board. “I’ve loved every minute of bringing Juliette to the screen and am immensely proud of what we’ve all created with Silo since the first episode,” Ferguson, who is also a producer, said. “I have always felt passionately about telling the entire story contained within Hugh Howey’s books, so I couldn’t be happier that audiences around the world have enthusiastically embraced the show. Alongside our partners at Apple, Graham, and the entire cast and crew, I cannot wait to dive into these final two thought-provoking seasons that will beautifully conclude this dystopian tale.”

Silo is currently in the middle of season two on Apple TV+. No word on the timeline for the third and fourth seasons
