On November 13-14, 2024, our team members, Nikolaos Chatzakis, Mechanical Engineer, and Vasileios Akrivos, Ph.D., Materials Engineer, attended the Hydrocarbon Fire Seminar organized by JOTUN. Held in Flixborough, UK, this seminar took place at JOTUN's state-of-the-art global hub, renowned for driving breakthroughs in intumescent coatings technology and cutting-edge R&D projects. The seminar provided invaluable insights into hydrocarbon fire protection standards (UL1709, API2218, ISO22899), pressure vessel safety, design considerations, and the functionality of hydrocarbon intumescent coatings. Highlights included a live hydrocarbon pool fire test and a tour of JOTUN’s advanced R&D facilities, offering participants a unique hands-on learning experience. We are truly privileged to have participated in the “Energy Meets Industries” main event last week at Merck in Darmstadt. A top-class Drees & Sommer gathering of the industry’s finest minds and leaders, where ideas took shape and visions aligned, as per the stated principle of "Entrepreneurs take action": developing solutions together at the table as experts and decision-makers.   During the event, #ENOIA CEO, Imad Makhzoumi gave an impulse contribution to the panel "What role does water play in achieving climate neutrality? Impact on urban infrastructure and industry". There, he highlighted how achieving climate neutrality hinges on tackling the interdependent water-energy nexus, as disruptions in the water cycle—like shortages and extreme floods—pose some of the most pressing climate risks. Mitigating these challenges means decarbonizing and enhancing efficiencies in both sectors, to avoid an impending resource conflict.   We feel sincere appreciation for this opportunity to interconnect with esteemed top executives at Drees & Sommer, whose engagement made this event not only a success but a true milestone. A Return Home That Feels Right 🌍❤️ It’s often said that Greece experiences a “brain drain” – a loss of talent seeking better opportunities abroad. But what happens when the tide begins to turn?
