  • We are thrilled to announce the commissioning of the #ThreeRunwaySystem (#3RS) at #HKIA! All three of our #runways are now operating simultaneously.   As one of the largest #infrastructure projects in Hong Kong’s history, the 3RS project began construction in 2016 and has navigated numerous challenges along the way. Following the official commissioning of the newly built North Runway in November 2022, the Centre Runway had been closed for reconfiguration, and HKIA had operated with two runways. With the completion of the reconfiguration works, flight checks and an aircraft crash and rescue exercise were successfully conducted on the Centre Runway earlier this September and October, respectively.   Today, the Three-runway System at HKIA is fully commissioned. The airport now handles flight movements on all three runways, significantly enhancing our capacity and further strengthening our position as a major international aviation hub. This milestone marks an exciting new chapter in Hong Kong’s #aviation development!   #hkia #hkairport #hongkongairport #hkg #airport

  • We've had an exciting month connecting with global and regional air cargo industry leaders. Our journey began at the Air Cargo Forum in Miami, where we joined over 3,500 representatives from more than 80 countries to engage in meaningful discussions on key issues affecting the global air cargo community. During this four-day event organised by The International Air Cargo Association TIACA, we proudly showcased the “Hong Kong Pavilion” in collaboration with our air cargo community partners (Hactl - Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited, Cathay Cargo Terminal, Tradeport Hong Kong Limited) and Invest Hong Kong. In addition to interacting with international supply chain players and promoting the competitive advantages of #HKIA as the world’s busiest #cargo airport, we invited visitors to experience Hong Kong's renowned hospitality through a taste of local delicacies. We also participated in the 14th Asian Logistics, Maritime and Aviation Conference (#ALMAC). Co-hosted by the Hong Kong Government and Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the event attracted around 2,200 participants from over 30 countries and regions. A highlight was the Air Freight Forum that we co-organised with HKTDC, where our expert panels provided in-depth insights into how businesses select their preferred air cargo gateways. They also emphasised the significance of digitalisation and a community-based digital ecosystem in fostering collaboration – both are essential for building a resilient and future-proof cargo supply chain. A big thank you to our moderator and all the speakers of the Air Freight Forum.: Fox Chu , Adrian Chan, Danny Ho, Dereje Derero, Elleck Li, Jannie Davel, Mark Watts, Ming Chan , Philip Chan, Tom Owen #HKIA #hongkongairport #hkairport #hkg #airports #aviation #ecommerce #aircargo #airfreight #AirCargoForum

Some 11,000 local and overseas runners took on the #CentreRunway of #HKIA on 17 November for a once-in-lifetime experience of running in a fully operational airport, alongside arriving and departing aircraft — were you one of them? The “Three-Runway System 10km International Race”, co-sponsored by Airport Authority Hong Kong and Standard Chartered Hong Kong, and organised by Hong Kong, China Association of Athletics Affiliates, celebrates the commissioning of the #ThreeRunwaySystem later this month. • The bustling hub of #HKIA offer aspiring #engineers a unique blend of challenges and opportunities. Now a Senior Engineer in the Technical Services Systems Department, Brian recalls his proudest achievement after completing his Graduate Engineer (#GE) training in 2016 — supervising the replacement of four primary sorters in Terminal 1’s Baggage Handling System. “Considering that the system handles over 70 million passengers annually, replacing the sorters presented an immense challenge. I embraced this prime opportunity, collaborating with and learning from industry-leading experts.”   The project's success marked HKIA's first sorter replacement in more than 25 years since the airport opened, a milestone Brian attributes to his two-year #GE training: “It laid a solid foundation for understanding the maintenance strategies that uphold HKIA's world-class status, and even expedited my process of attaining membership with the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers”   Like Brian, you too can benefit from rigorous on-the-job training, enriching opportunities and a progressive #career plan at HKIA.
