A group of 30 HKBU students, both local and non-local, recently had the incredible opportunity to visit Meituan in Shenzhen (美團深圳辦公室). Eager to understand more about the Greater Bay Area, they participated in a guided tour of Meituan's operation center, gaining valuable insights into its innovative business model. Students were particularly amazed by Meituan's low-air economy delivery service. The interactive sharing was particularly enlightening, showcasing the diverse career opportunities available within the company. Most agreed that the visit enhanced their understanding of the Shenzhen employment market and local work culture, and it was truly inspiring to witness how Meituan is shaping the future of services and technology. Our recent visit to Decathlon China Open Day in the Shenzhen retail store offered students an insightful look into the company's innovative products and service covering full range. 🎯 Students got to learn and cooperate in a new sport. The experience continued with dynamic group discussions and presentations. Some outstanding students were offered valuable on-site individual interviews as well. 🌟 Celebrating Innovation: Highlights from the 4th Cohort of Start-up Saturday 🌟 The 4th cohort of Start-up Saturday was successfully held last Saturday! Nine student teams were shortlisted for the final presentation, where they had the opportunity to pitch to a distinguished judging panel that included Mr. Raymond Chu, Associate Director of University Collaborations and Entrepreneurship at HKSTP; Mr. Raymond Mak , CEO of WeExpand; and Ms. Denise C., Assistant Director of the Office of Student Affairs at HKBU.   🏆 Ultimately, five teams were awarded seed funding for their innovative projects, which spanned various sectors, including AI scoring tools for secondary teachers, empowerment for the elderly and individuals with special educational needs through sports and café initiatives, waste sorting solutions, and a matching platform for start-up teams. 🏆   Congratulations to all the winning teams as they embark on their entrepreneurial journeys! 🚀 🚀 Stay tuned for the next cohort of Start-up Saturday in the second semester! ⭐ #bucareercentre #entrepreneurship #entrepreneurial_learning #studentstartup

📸 Highlights from the HKBU Networking Event with IT and STEM Internship Scheme Employers! 🌟 On 29 October 2024, we were happy to have hosted the Hong Kong Baptist University Networking Event in collaboration with IT and STEM Internship Scheme Employers. Thanks to the enthusiastic participation of our esteemed attendees. We were thrilled to welcome 74 talented students, 34 esteemed employers, and 9 dedicated staff members from the Faculty of Science. 🎉 SuitSwitcher 2024: A Resounding Success! 🎉   We are excited to announce that SuitSwitcher 2024👔 took place over four days from 2 to 4 October, with an additional session on 9 October 🗓️. Thanks to the generosity of more than 15 companies including APEC Group, AVISTA Group, Cathay Pacific, Computershare, Deloitte, D & Partners CPA Limited, Dress Green, Grand Hyatt, Hatcher Group Limited, Hyatt Regency, KPMG, Lojel, Modern Terminals Limited, MTR Corporation Limited, Otto International Limited, Polar Air Cargo, Redress, Savills Management Services Limited, and Serco Group (HK) Limited, along with HKBU staff, we successfully collected around 3,200 donations!    Our students responded with incredible enthusiasm during the event👍🏻.In total, over 1,400 students participated in the campaign, and we distributed 3,020 pieces of professional work attire. We believe every student walked away with suitable clothing, ready to make their mark in the workplace👩🏻💼🧑🏻💼. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Zhuhai Government and the Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC) for co-organising the incredible Zhuhai Study Trip with HKBU.
