About us
Founded in 2010 by like minded individuals with a passion for Shipping, the Young Professionals In Shipping Network (YPSN) HK has grown from an informal social gathering of friends and colleagues into an incorporated non-profit association, with events attracting over 200 attendees.
With strong support from the shipping community, the YPSN has gone from strength to strength and we now have over 1000 members from a wide range of reputable companies and institutions in Hong Kong.
Our aim is to provide a relaxed forum for young professionals to network and interact with their peers within the industry and more importantly, to promote the Shipping Industry as an exciting and viable career path for the next generation! Through regular networking events, seminars and sporting activities we aim to bring people together from all sectors of the shipping industry including Owners, Charterers, Managers, Surveyors, Brokers, Legal & Insurance. www.ypsnhk.com

A great “Sustainability in Shipping” meeting at Pacific Basin Shipping Limited! A big thank you to Pacific Basin for hosting and sharing insights about their new #low #emission #vessel newbuild program and the motivation behind their decision-making to order #green #methanol capable #ships. 🚢 We applaud PB for not only leading by example but also encouraging openness and shared innovation. As PB' CEO Martin Fruergaard pointed out during the discussion, although companies are competitors, they are going through similar studies and tests of various energy saving initiatives, investing significant time, energy, and resources. By sharing the outcomes of these studies with each other, we can save time and focus collectively on solutions that truly make a difference—solutions that improve efficiency and reduce carbon output. 👍 This collaborative mindset is exactly what the industry needs to tackle the immense challenges of decarbonisation. Pacific Basin' commitment to sustainability sets a strong example for others to follow. We are very proud to have created an initiative, Sustainability in Shipping lunches, which fosters invaluable discussions and knowledge sharing among our members in the #HongKongshipping community. This initiative is designed to facilitate the exchange of insights and experiences from various projects undertaken by our members aimed at reducing #CO2emissions. In our latest Sustainability in Shipping lunch last Friday, kindly hosted by Wah Kwong Maritime Transport Holdings Limited — a Hong Kong shipowner of modern mid to large-sized bulk carriers, tankers, and small pressurized LPG carriers — we had the pleasure of hearing from Jacqueline Chao, the Head of Sustainability in Wah Kwong, and Hare Ram Sah, GM at Venture Marine Services. Jacqui shared their experience with working on #VoluntaryCarbonCredits via Gold Standard, a global carbon registry and verification of carbon emission reductions from #retrofits and potential revenues from sale of carbon credits in the voluntary carbon credit markets. Hare and Jacqui then spoke about their Retrofit program and Retrofit Energy Efficiency Measures aimed at upgrading ships for enhanced energy efficiency and aligning their retrofit program to the company's strategic objectives.
