Buy an off-the-shelf software solution or build your own? A never ending debate. And we had a few cents to add to it: Buying an existing software solution is usually cheaper and available now. However, it often lacks possibilities of customization or integration with other crucial parts of your business. Building your own software solution is amazing because it maps your existing processes specifically and can be catered to meet your specific needs. However, it is slower and usually takes up a bit more budget. But the main point is that the initial question doesn't have one right answer. It always needs to be a choice made for the specific company at the specific given time! We worked with Omoguru company to build a widget that helps people with reading disabilities to consume websites more easily. We are proud of all the work Omoguru are putting in to help people with reading disabilities. We helped them develop their ReadAble widget that anyone can add to their website in order to make it adaptable to people with reading disabilities. It includes everything from tools that modify fonts, colors, line spacings, line heights, font spacing, link behaviors and much more. We developed the solution in Preact and Typescript. It is so cool that this was recognized by some cool institutions such as the Croatian Parliament or Croatian National Bank who have installed it on their websites. We wish Omoguru to keep pushing the boundaries and making web easier to read for as many people as possible. #softwaredevelopment #preact #react #typescript

Our CEO Mario Mucalo was a guest at the Surove Strasti podcast. The hosts Sasa Tenodi and Ivan Voras spoke to Mario about his previous experiences and how he applies what he learned today. Topics were very diverse, from recruiting and sales in IT all the way to magic tricks and playing drums. Mario spoke about Intellgens and some of our values and goals and we are very proud of his appearance. Check out the full episode in the link in the comments 🔽🔽🔽

When a client comes to us and asks "Well, when can you have it done and how much will it cost?" it is not a question we can answer at the moment. Instead, we have to go through a process: https://lnkd.in/dDjrkUiw

One of the cool projects we worked on was an online exam system we built working with our client ESSPERTA. They needed a system where an educational facility could define their online exams with questions, answers, evaluations etc. They could also define times of the exams, participant lists etc. All participants would get a link to the exam player which they would run to complete the exam. There were some cool anti-cheating mechanisms included. The client was truly happy and the solution was deployed to production. The solution was built in .NET on the server side and Angular on the client side on top of a MSSQL database. #softwaredevelopment #dotnet #angular #javascript #typescript #mssqlserver

Last week our CEO Mario Mucalo spoke at ZICER - Zagreb Innovation Centre's Startup Factory on Software development in the startup world. Mario focused on three main things: 1️⃣ In general, and especially if you're a startup, you need to ask a lot of questions. Who are you developing for? To whom is your software bringing value? What is the one core problem you're trying to solve? How have people solved it so far? And many more. Knowing these answers will allow you to always keep the big picture in mind and better understand what it is you want to develop and deliver. 2️⃣ Develop as little as you can get away with in order to validate your idea. In the startup world you're very often exploring and looking for your product-market fit. Don't develop mega-solutions before you've proven the product-market fit. If you do, you might miss and this miss might be costly. 3️⃣ This is something we at Intellegens feel strongly about: Software development is much more than just writing code! Delivering a software solution includes much more than just coding, it includes gathering requirements, design (UX, UI), coding, infrastructure, documentation and support! We are proud that ZICER is often calling Mario as a mentor for young startups as well as a lecturer on software development. Hopefully this can only help one of these startups to become the next unicorn.

You have an idea for a software product, but are not sure how to get there? Talk to as many people as you can about it. You'll either get feedback which directs you away from it (e.g. it can't be done because it violates laws of physics!)... ... or you'll get advice, ideas, other perspectives etc. All of the above are useful and are getting you one inch closer to making your idea a reality. (Do note, it will take you MANY inches). If you want to talk about your idea or get feedback from our team of professionals, please book a FREE 30 MIN CALL: https://lnkd.in/dkqTGUEK

There are a few things we make an effort about when communicating to our clients: 1. Keep the technical talk to the level the client can understand. Don't expect clients to understand programming - they understand their business domain. 2. Communicate as often as possible - no one has ever been accused of communicating too often, but many projects went south because of poor communication. 3. Own up to any mistakes as soon as possible - the client and us are in the same boat and want to get the project across the finish line. 4. Mind the attitude - do note that the final goal is to get the project across the finish line and this is what would make both sides happiest. We've blogged on how and why we do this, so please check out the blog post in the comments. ⬇⬇⬇

A while back we worked with a really cool company ARIX Technologies. Their goal is to improve pipe inspection by creating robotics-based inspections to find hidden threats of corrosion and conducting efficient risk-based assessments. Intellegens was working with ARIX to develop a web application that would receive data from robot inspections performed, process it as needed and provide the needed reports and documentation for the inspections. Intellegens also helped ARIX with developing the web application for monitoring the facility by mapping sections, pipes, junctions etc. and having a history of inspections and maintenance on each of them. The solution was delivered as expected and went live to production with some of ARIX’s biggest clients. The solution was created using node.js and Angular on top of a PostgreSQL database. We are very proud of ARIX seeing their solutions being used by some major clients like Shell or ExxonMobil! #softwaredevelopment

Talk to people about your ideas for software development projects! It is the only way to start turning those ideas into reality: 1. If you're worried that someone will steal your idea and make it a reality, they won't. They already have their own ideas they're not working on. 2. Discussing with people will allow you to learn if they indeed have the same problem you're solving and how they are solving it right now. 3. Discussing with (technical) people will allow you to learn if the idea is technically solvable or not and why. 4. Discussing with people will help you think about your own idea from different points of view which can only be a good thing. If you want to talk with our experts for 30 mins completely free, please book a call here: https://lnkd.in/dkqTGUEK
